XS750 progress

It looks amazing, I am currently working on a 79 XS750 Special myself. How did you get your acewell tach to read correctly? I have the same one and its way off but I used the wrap around the plug wire method (five wraps). Also did you have to do much to get that fuel tank to fit?

I just took the same wire you wrapped and attached it to the cylinder 1 coil input wire. NOT the coil wire.

To get the tank to fit, I had to weld a tab to the frame. Once I did that it fit perfectly.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. By the way, I set the Rpm or as it says in the settings Spc to 0.5 is that the same setting you used? Also, where did you get your fork boots? I installed mine three months ago and they are falling apart already, hopefully you had better luck with yours. Sorry for all the questions, I haven't found many other people working on this particular make and model and your turned out very similarly to the idea I had when I bought mine.

I think I got the boots from MikesXS. Can't remember though. They are in decent shape, but not the most long lasting fork boots.

Have you sorted out your jetting for your carbs? What Intake/exhaust will you be running?

I am running Uni pods and an old Hooker 3 into one muffler. Oddly enough I didn't need to rejet. I picked up a XS750 tank (I think, Could be something else) did you not have to trim down the front tank mounts? Mine are much too wide.

I had to trim the front mounts and then weld a tab to the frame for the rear mount.

Did you cut the springs in your forks? Your front end seems lower than mine.

O lowered the forks in the tree about an inch or so, but the real difference is in the front wheel. Its is a wheel from an XS400. It is and 18" wheel not the stock 19" wheel. I had to make custom spacers for the disk brakes, custom bearings, and a stainless spacer for the axle because the XS 400 wheel is about 5mm thinner than the XS750 front wheel.

I just figured out the preload settings on the front forks, it dropped my front end about an inch. Here is a picture of mine, I went for more of a brat style so my girl could come along for the ride.
