XS750SE Removing Flywheel/Altenator

Hey everybody, I am new to the forum and a while back I built a cafe racer out of a 78 xs750se. Long story short bike broke down and I have tried many different things, and I am almost sure of what I need to do after singling out everything else. I need to take off the flyweel/altenator to take a look and see if that chain (Hy-Vo chain) underneath the crank case is indeed broken. Being a cheapskate I figured to not buy the fly wheel puller and just rig up a bolt that would work. So I got my bolt and beveled the end of it, however; after threading it in all the way and pounding it with a regular nail hammer and ball peen hammer, nothing happened. I was at it for a little while and got frustrated. Any ideas? I have looked around a bit and some said to just keep beating it and with a bigger hammer. One in particular said to use the special tool "BFH4000" anyone know where to get one of these? Hahaha jkin I know thats just a BFH. Any help is deeply appreciated, I am at my wits end with this project, just want to get it up and running before the riding season.

And since I know you all probably like pictures just as much as the GS twinners, here are some pictures of my 78 xs750se

Thanks everyone!

Here's a link to the triples forum http://www.yamaha-triples.org They know their stuff and there's even a manual you can download, you'll just have to do some searching.

Here's a link to a short thread on removing the stator http://www.yamaha-triples.org/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=15084&mid=104218#M104218

Hey thanks I was beginning to think I was posting for some zombies to read! Haha. I am registered on that Yamaha triple site but the site is so complicated. However; I did get around to posting a thread somewhere on the forum a little bit ago before asking here. I will go and check if anyone has answered. Any other input is welcomed and appreciated.

One thing I was wondering about is if you were using a breaker bar, applying steady pressure on the flywheel remover and tapping it at the same time with the hammer. When I removed the rotor on my xs650, it didn't just pop off, but it eventually did with that technique. If your using a bolt make sure its hardened, maybe a 10.9 if you can get it, I think that's comparable to a grade 8
