Yamaha AT3 2-Stroke into a Cafe ????

I am already looking into the next "therapy" project, and I have been thinking "Light Weight" probably a 125cc and also would like a 2-stroke back in the stable. (I sure miss the old kawasaki H2 I had in college)

I don't want to make the same mistake I made with my current build of a CM400 (Damn funky broke back loopy frame) when I should have started with a CB350.

I have the opportunity to buy a 1973 Yamaha AT3 "Enduro". 3300 miles 100% complete. What are the opinions problems with turning an Enduro/Trail bike into a Cafe? Fork Length? Silly Tube Angle if Shortened? Shock Length? What else...???

Who knows though once it is cleaned up I may just decide to keep it stock/original. That's what happened with my 1971 CB750, bought it with the intention of doing a cafe, but once I had it running and cleaned up it was just too nice to molest.

Whitey80, thanks for reading and posting. It looks like you were able to change the stance to a more aggressive (down in front) like I think would be needed. Do you have a straight side Pic? What did you do to forks & shocks?
 
I see that making a fine cafe. You seem to have shorter shocks than the tracker example. Maybe you could get something longer to plane the bike out.

Thanks again CrescentSon, you seem to be one of very few interested enough to post on this Idea and my CM400T build. I can't really tell from the tracker pic angle if he was able to change / lower the stance. Regarding the trackers shocks. They look the same to me as those on the stock AT3. That's why I asked foe more info.

What have you built or working on?
 
Ground Resistance from the pic in my signature is my first build. It is a 78 CB750 SS and you can click on the image to see the progress. As far as interest in your projects, there are a lot of builds going on around here, and sometimes it takes a while to gain viewers. Stick with it. Once the gang figures out your gonna be here for a while, and contribute to the site your views will go up. Usually the start of a build is slow, mostly planning and collecting, so the guys tend to hang back at first.

With the shock/fork idea, how much adjustment are you thinking. One to two inches is doable quite easy. If you do search out longer shocks you might want something adjustable to keep compression similar. How long are the stockers?
 
Yeah, the rears are stock. The front has been lowered 3" with different springs in the forks. I'll find the paperwork and tell you where I got them

Looks like an excellent place to start. Off orad bikes typically are a little taller than street bikes, so there's probably some room to lower it a little. Full on Bumble bee race rep would be cool, but almost any longer tank low bar look would work, and two strokes are just way too much fun.
