Yamaha SR250 Air filter/crankcase breather

Hey guys. I'm gonna turn my 1981 Yamaha SR250 into a tracker style bike. Right now I've got the rear end off, doing some touch up paint on the frame and painting the swingarm (I will eventually have it all powdercoated). Besides stripping the paint off the swingarm there isn't much I can do but order stuff. I've got new bars and grips on the way. I realize I am almost for sure going to have to rejet after putting a pod air filter on. Can any of you guys tell me what exact filter I should buy? Dunno if it's allowed to send a link to stuff here but if it is, please send me a link to some of my options. Same goes for the crankcase breather. I've seen some breathers on ebay but they don't look like what most of you guys use. Thanks guys, ride on. PS: This is what I'm hoping my bike turns out like

Looks like a cool direction for your bike man!

As far as clamp on air filters go, foam filters are best. But if you want that pod look, dont skimp out here - get a proper K&N filter. K&N have an awesome site to search for the right filter for you. There are a bunch of different styles, so its up to you which style you like (round, tapered, flat etc etc). The most important dimension is the flange diameter, once you have that, just look at all the other dimensions and decide what you want - ie, really short, long, wide base diameter, skinny base diameter, sharp taper, narrow taper etc. For the SR's Mikuni carb that flange outside diameter is 55mm. Because the flanges on filters are rubber, you can usually go up or down in size by a few millimeters and the flange will stretch or clamp to fit.

Take a look here: http://www.knfilters.com/universal/universal.htm

Once you decide on the dimensions you want, write down the K&N part number and go searching on online stores and ebay for that exact filter. Thats it!

Thank you! Is there any rule for these filters that the bigger the better? ;D I'd rather spend 40 bucks on something like this, http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=RC-0981 compared to 80 bucks on something like this http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=RC-0982

These are the filters I like, and can afford out of K&N:
http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=RC-2890
http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=RC-2900
http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=RC-0982
http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=RC-0981

Which do you think I should get? I like all of them look wise.

I think those filters are U.G.L.Y. haha bigger is better! get one with more surface area you don't want to end up restricting the air intake when you think you are opening it up and those look small for the crank case I used a 3/4 crankcase filter off ebay. ebay has the filters you need for 40ish I used RU-1770 but I have a different size engine/carb
