Well, I've tried about 4x today to post this through Tapatalk app and got nothing but errors so, since finally home I'll try posting from the desktop.

I'm looking for opinions/insight on a couple dif deals I have come across. I have found 2 x XS500's - 1975/76 w/ownership, non running, seized, looks complete in pics for $200.

Other deal I have come across (really leaning towards), 1 x XS650, 1976, seized, few extra parts, ownership, $360.

Good friend has XS650 and I know there's a lot of potential in 650's. Also, know that there is a lot of aftermarket parts, etc available.

I'm used to working on 70's and early 80's Honda's so, Yamaha is new stomping grounds . Is the XS500's worth fixing, chopping, anything? How are they mechanically, aftermarket parts, etc??

Any info is appreciated...TIA

I have owned XS500's for 38 years. In my opinion if the top end is junk pass on it. The 650 has infinetly better parts supply and resale is way better than the 500. If the gas tank and seat are perfect that would be the only way it is worth $200.

I second what jimmer said, the xs650 is a pretty sought after engine, lots of people bob/chop them. If you are saying you get TWO 500s for 200 bones, then it might be worth it depending on condition and your plans.

Or take all and worry about the consequences later :)
