I got a tach off of ebay, and it turns out its a Yamaha XS 750 tach, not a Honda CB750 tach as described. Will the thing work with my tach cable and read revs accurately?

Thanks!

i suspect not. if you check the tachometer part numbers here, it suggests suzuki and honda tachos are interchangeable, and yamaha and kawasaki tachos are interchangeable:

based on this brilliant insight, i bought a yamaha tacho to use on my kawasaki....it didn't work ???

anyone want to buy a 1975 rd250 gauge set? ;D

Your main problem will be the ratio of the tach its self. It is sometimes marked at the bottom of the tachs ... i.e 4-1, 5-1 and so on.

What do they look like? I'm still working on gauges for my XS650 project.

ARGH. So it would work, but it'll show inaccurate revs. Crap.

Time to go find another tach...

Thanks guys!!!!!

Yeah Ian, that's a nice setup, but I'm running without the original gauge mounts and am looking to put together a minimalist setup. I like the look of the British Smiths gauges, and actually '80s XS650 gauges might fit the bill. Basic solid black face is what I'm looking for I think at the moment.

Check on a set from the SRX600 (Yamaha). Might work as well !! :D
