Yamaha XT250 Cafe Project

Hello,

Just introducing myself. My name is Randy. My friend and I are working on a 1980 Yamaha XT250. We want to turn it into a cafe racer.

Right now it has been stripped of all body work and tank. Next we are going to pull the motor out for a rebuild. We would like to do a fork swap to lower the front end a bit and put 18s on the bike. So far my only idea for a fork is to replace the tubes with some of the same diameter. The rear shock will most likely be replaced with a Hagon shock.

It appears people aren't to keen on customizing this model of bike, however it's the only one I have access to. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
