Yeah... I don't think that is safe

So I was pulling apart the front end on my 350 last night and the lower bearing was just a pile of rust. After finally getting the remains out (only 4 of the bearing balls were intact and they were rusty as hell) I cleaned up the steering stem and the rust has probably taken at least 2mm off the diameter above the race area. It would probably be OK, but I think I'm just going to replace it. I was also going to have to deal with a broken steering stop on the lower triple, so this makes the decision to get another piece even easier.

Looks to be in fine condition to me ???

Kidding of course.
I'd give that whole bike a good once twice over.

Yeah, already found another one. That is by far the worst corrosion on the bike (except for the battery box, which isn't a safety item). To contrast, things like the brake drum linings are pristine. It's weird. Oh well.
