Yes another CB500 Project.

too funny...

I also have my cafe 500 on hold while i baby the new stocker. i think theres a thread on here somewhere with them both.

OK more updates. I have gotten to it on the body work. Tank and sidecovers are in primer now. Took 5 passes with Bondo to get the emblem area smooth. I could probably work on that for a whole other day. Still along way to go before paint touches her. Wet sanding here I come. Oh Yeah pics.

Oh and before i forget a HONDAMAN Electronic ignition. Couple of guys at Mid-Ohio were raving about it so I thought I would give it a whirl.

Cyclone64 - I love my svo I have been wanting one forever and the wife said that since a deer took out my 93 5.0 lx i could get it. I haven't looked back since. All stock except for the PO replaced the stock exhaust that was rusted out. Only 40k to boot.

All right guys. I had a bout of bad luck with the paint and had to start over.

Tank rework.

Lesson learned: "Make sure you read the primer can carefully otherwise the paint will sluff off like dead skin"

It is far from perfect. Very far. I would like to re do it again ,but I am sick of looking at it.

The side panels turned out very well.

Got some wet sanding to do on everything then a good clear on tank with Spraymax. And standard rattle can clear on everything else.

My buddy and I decided to mount a Sportster seat to the Honda and it ended up looking pretty cool. I don't have the rear bracket on. But the fender and the grab bar are gone. Going to fab a short fender for the rear out of aluminum sheet. Hopefully be done before the MotoGP. Doesn't look like it though.

allright gents new update. i have been exceedingly lazy on this project. i am buying all of the chassis items and having the wheels done and cleaned. but the new cool  item is the pewter cast emblems that i am going to have done at work. I hope to have new ones made for all of my cb500 bikes.

oh yeah pix

IMG_0594.jpg

obviously the top is the recast pewter and the lower is the original. I am very pleased.

what kind of paint are you using? and how are you painting it? Ive been trying to get my side covers to look like that, great job.

DetroitRockCity: I am having an initial run of about 20 made. As soon as I get them I will pm you with a price. I will charge cost + Shipping. So relatively nothing.

Ericngsta: I am using the Duplicolor Car Series. Stuff that comes in the small cans. It bonds better than almost any other rattle can i have tried. ( and i have tried a lot ). Prep is the key. When they say 90% Prep 10% Paint believe it.

shipping?

you're right up the road!

head up to the 'Ville when you get em and i'll pay you for them over a cold one....

BTW, i FINALY have my cafe on the road, still ugly, but running.
i also scored a CHERRY 72 with less than 8K on the clock and a frame that glows like Hiroshima at night. It's my Sunday rider with the wife.

those two and a 71 and 73 in various stages of togetherness round out my 500Four collection at four....

yes shipping?! ;D you might not be the only one that may like one. Where would you suggest a meet up at? 8)

there's a bar called "the Mokey Wrench" that i've been wanting to start a Vintage or Cafe Bike night at.

let me hit up the owner and see whats good.

WoW! Coming back from the dead. Finally got the decals on with clearcoat.

New Latch for the tank.

Photo0092.jpg

I am currently rebuilding calipers for the dual disc setup. And sanding the fork tube for the brushed look. The bike is currently at the engine shop having the 555cc bored over engine put in the frame with a new clutch. Hopefully it will be up and running soon.

Can you tell me how you got the old cap and latch off of the tank, I need to tank mine off for painting.
thanks

hanly2: I used a slender point chisel about the size of the riveted end. Punched carefully with a hammer (and a rag covering everything) and it pops out. Just remember to keep track of the spring and be careful pulling the metal dowel out of the thumb lever as it will crack and break.

valvesprung: Thanks ;D

Right now I am rebuilding another caliper to complete the dual disc.

With fresh pads for both.

Photo0097.jpg

And giving my new forks the "brushed aluminum" look with some nice sand paper, scotch brite and elbow grease ( of which i have pleanty)

Photo0096.jpg

That is an amazing job with the paint, sir. Your elbow grease is really paying off. I like what you did with the Sportster seat, fits the lines of the bike well.
