So now I have you attention. I live, eat and shit Café style bikes and I’m sorry but a 350 Honda with girder forks, a big fu&%in hump for a seat and sprayed flat black just doesn’t work for me.
I am 55 years old and lived it, and am still living it.
As for Mrkil, I’m guessing I have build more bikes than you have had hot dinners. I joined this site a few years ago and would have helped anybody build a special, and I offered my services for free.
By the way, how did you like my Triton?
Real rockers understand…
P.S. How do I remove my Add?
Ray.
The issue here is that EVERYONE (with the exception of yourself) on this forum is open and honest about what they like and dislike whilst being respectful of other peoples tastes. I may not like girder forks or bobber but that is my prerogative as is the right to my opinion as well as your own. what is not on is being insulting and disrespectful towards others. Real rockers may understand but i believe they will also distance themselves from you, because real rockers also understand the importance of getting to know your own bike, mateship, fixing and replacing what you need to with whatever you have at your means and your disposal, but most importantly, a love of two wheels and speed. I'm sure your services would be welcome if you were willing to accept that as a forum member you will being coming into contact with people who LIKE DIFFERENT THINGS TO YOU, but it seems we won't get the benefit of your experience. Well i speak for myself actually as i won't be taking part in any thread you start or become actively involved in and especially not if you are going to insult the bike i have chosen to work with. Incidentally i chose a Yamaha SR500 which, yes, i know is a rip off of a BSA but it's my choice and i love the old girl.
I regularly visit this forum to LEARN and to se what others are doing with their bikes and to maybe purchase a bike that i'm interested in. If i don't show interest in yours then that may jut mean you're advertising in the wrong place. Like it's been mentioned, most of the people here are here because they are interested in all levels of custom work, from mild to wild. They are also interested in affordable bikes and fabrication, panel beating, painting, welding and all other tools of the trade. A lot of the bikes you see on this page have started from 2 or 3 hundred dollar junkers and through blood sweat and tears we are making into something personal. The problem is not that we're not interested in your thruxton, it's that we're MORE INTERESTED in other things. You've done the internet equivalent of advertising a rolls royce in a bargain car lot.
So you've taken a bike that you wanted to sell, advertised it in completely the wrong webspace for the demographic you should be marketing it too, then got a surprise when noone showed interest. Instead of looking back and wondering why noone was showing interest you got angry and posted this:

I posted my Thruxton for sale and can’t believe that not one person has commented on it.
Would I get a response if I put one of my 1960 Tritons up for sale, I think not..
I guess if it’s not an old beat up 350 Honda or a Bobber (don’t know what that has to do with Café racers) it wouldn’t get a look in. Get with the program……
Ray.
It turns out you might be right but i'm guessing that you aren't. As the responses here show quite a few people liked your thruxton BUT THEY WEREN'T INTERESTED IN BUYING IT? Would you get a response if you advertised one of your 1960 tritons? Maybe, maybe not, who knows? It depends who is online at the time and how much is in their pocket. I betting now is not the time to advertise though. Best you wait till this all blows over
But the kicker is when you attack the very thing that this website is about. Observe:

This website is about bobbers, customs, cafe racers, trackers, rat bikes, old bikes, new bikes, bikes, bikes, bikes. It just so happens a lot of ours START lives as "old beat up" bikes. Yes, it seems a lot of people here like honda's, but why is that an issue. Take the time to kick back and read the passion these people share for these bikes and it becomes contagious. And the fact that everyone here is ready to have a go is a beautiful thing. I'd being thinking about getting an XS650 as my next bike. I'm now thinking about a Honda twin instead.
You say you're 55 years old. I feel sad for the life that you've lived as it's lead you to a place where you get consolation from insulting faceless individuals on the internet. It's your loss and yours alone to have as i'll still be building my SR or whatever i choose to work on, when you're sitting around wondering why noone will buy your thruxton. And thats a shame as your experience could have been valued.
End rant.
PS to all my fellow members, i apologise if you do not fit the generalizations that i have just spat out. No offence intended.
