That thing is pretty clean. I bet it will clean up nicely. Don't cut it up, just swap out stuff that you can go back to the original if you wanted. Knobby tires, smaller front fender, smaller directions, smaller taillight and that thing will look pretty sweet.

Take the front fender off and ride through some gravel / sand / mud / water / etc. You'll want to put it right back on. That, and the fender is the only fork brace. Take off the rear fender and it just makes a mess on everything - you included.

Don't rip it apart theres just not that many stock bikes any more , Clean it up make it safe and keep it in the family.... That things Sweeeet! My pop with his 305 Scrambler R,I,P :'(

Alright fenders will stay, at least the front one. I might make a fiberglass mold for the back and cut it at the back of the seat. The original one is to nice to cut up. I polished the front one and it looks great. Those pics are awesome, thanks for sharing

To clean the tank take it off and drain any gas or what ever out of it . Go get 2 gal of cleaning vinegar and fill it up after you plug the cross over tubes . Throw a handful of 1/2 nuts in and shake it up . Let sit about a day or 2 and drain out . Then fog it with some WD40 . Worked great on mine

I built one that I sold quite a number of years back

At this point, would rather have a cool little stock scrambler with some dirt-biting trials tires on it.

build it how you want to build it. It's YOUR bike! If you want to hack the holy shit out of it then do it!! It's not like Honda didn't make a gazillion of them. It doesnt belong to anybody but you, so make it your own. Thats why I bought a japanese bike in the first place...I dont have any quilt cutting it up. You think there is a GS650GL on every street corner? Hell no....
I wont cut up my Harleys to the point that they cant be returned to stock, but you think anyone will notice if you cut up an old CB? Hell, it wont get noticed UNLESS you cut it up! Do what you want...damn the rest of em.

This is sweet

I Think those scramblers look mint in stock allso, but nice bike this is nonetheless

If it were my bike, and I wish it was. I would trade out the tail lights and turn signals for smaller aftermarket ones. Find a pair of fenders from fleabay, cut as you want. Recover the seat, re paint, throw some Norman Hydes or super moto bars on it and ride it like there's tits on the tank. Just my .02.
