I have run them on similar bikes.

No matter what you do, you need to make the intake boot the same size as the carb venturi if you want full flow from them.

I would try some accelerator pump type carbs.

What did they cost? Can you put them side by side (pin alligned) with stock pistons

sure sorry we got sidetracked. The were 120.00 for all 4 Pistons including shipping. https://youtu.be/0r4NxWnVZ38.

Hispeed/Akunar 54mm vs 52mm cb175 stock piston

Rings are .87mm

5.97 mm from deck to first ring

13.67 mm deck to top of pin

18.82 mm dome to top of pin

Very cool thread, Lot's of creative fabrication work and design.. I'm currently building a '71 SL175, since the 175/200 platform seems to be your wheel house maybe you could hook me up with some good resources for parts and engine components ;)

Luugo86 it seems craiglist and buying complete bikes has been the cheapest for us. We have a head we bought off of eBay for 19 bucks that did 100mph and it looked like the moon in one of the combustion chambers. We have also bought complete bikes from salvage yards.

That's a neat lathe, should be able to get into some real 'weird' manufactured parts now.
Personally, although 'everyone' uses QCTP I'm not a big fan of them on small lathes.
Back off the compound slide to reduce the torque 'bending' tool into work or chuck (you get tapers or 'digging in' when it happens)

Thanks for all the side by sides
do you have a preference?
yes the Hispeed/Akunar since it is almost identical in deck height to the stock Pistons. Also we learned on our previous builds we have about .120" to play with milling off the head/cylinder. We have a cb160 head already ported and ready for 11.3-1 compression. We are curious what it will do on they Dyno ;)

Thats good to know, Akunar used to do cylinder sleeves as well, i wonder if they have anything that would work
