That electronics tray is something I'm considering as well. Please post more pics when you throw the wires and other junk in there. Since it looks completely boxed in, how are you going to the wires in there? Definately a good read with a lot of good ideas. Now, I need to learn how to weld.

The tray is actually open at the front to clear the rear tank mount as well as allow air in to keep everything cool during the summer. So this will also allow the wiring to run straight out along the top frame tube out of sight when looking at the bike.

Well I did it last night. Beer in hand I said a couple last words for the previous work I had done on the frame and then cut it off. Anyway next was the seat which cut nicely with a cut off wheel, I took 3" off the front edge. After setting it back on the bike it looks more balanced now with the tank so I'm happy with how it turned out. I'll put up some pics tonight or tomorrow to show how it looks.

Here's a quick pic after cutting down the seat and the frame.

Well after a long sleep I am proud to say that I am finally getting back to the bike. I had to put it aside for a while so I could reassemble my car that had been sitting patiently while I started on the bike. Then I ended up having to move everything when we bought a new house. I am finally getting the garage sorted out for room so I can make some progress on this thing again.

Anyway to help things along I scored this lift for the princely sum of $100!

I still have some sorting to do for storage and build a suitable workbench, but the lift is getting me motivated to put it to good use. I had hoped I would be able to ride her to the Mods vs Rockers in Dallas this March, but I'm not sure if I will be even close by then. Who knows I may have some company for her if my buddy takes me up on my offer for his '76 CB750 Super Sport. :)

In the next week I hope to post some new pics of progress on the bike for you guys.

$100! Nice score! I have been slowly gathering materials to build my own lift and I bet if I would have had to buy it all, I would have over $100 in that alone.

Nice build!

I have the same bike (two actualy) and one thing I will make sure of when I build mine is to aling the tank and the seat by raisin the back of the tank. The tank will then make a straight line with the seat for a nicer look IMO.

Most builds I like hte bottom of the tank has a straight line this lines up directly with the bottom of the seat line.

The "V" shape made by the alignment of the tank ans seat make the bike seem droopy ans not as racy.

Fantastic Build thread. I am working on an almost identical project. Keep it up. Any info on replacing the speedo and Tach? I will check out Acewell but my problem is that i need the speedo in KPH.
