Brake hose lenghts chart?

Does anyone know if there is a chart showing brake hose lenghts?

I need some brake hoses, but what's available to me in Canada is only a few select higher-end "universal" kits that are quite expensive.
I wanted to look up some stock hoses, but i don't know which bikes have 32"/36" front brake hoses.

Anyone know if this info can be looked up somewhere? Most OEM applications just deal with the part number and never disclose the part dimensions.

Did you check out fortnine.ca? Lots of brake lines there in lots of sizes. Based here in MTL
 
Just measure the space and work out what fittings you want and order them from Rennsport right there in Canadia and easy to find on ebay.

Two higher-end stainless universal hoses will run you $100. Ok, fine.
but on top of that fortnine wants around $20+ for each banjo fitting. That's another $90 just for banjo fittings. Add another $20 for a double banjo bolt. Come on.
I'm not spending more for 2 brake hoses than i spent for the entire rest of the braking system.

again, i'm sure the stuff is top notch, but i just don't need top notch, yet there isn't really a less expensive alternative unless you put in exact bike model and get OEM equivalent replacement.

Beats me - I have fortnine on speed dial though and give them a call with questions like this. They're very helpful.
 
I share your problem. I was lucky to score a mixed lot of used braided lines on ebay that I have used on the Honda build and the Suzonda too. One I've used came with a pair of Brembo calipers I bought.

I have been known to mooch about a biker gathering to check out potential options....not many of those happening right now though :(

You'll come across the issue of a part's dimensions not stated and just the model it's from in other areas too. Axles and a fork brace I needed was tricky to source.....and sellers aren't too fussed about giving out dimensions when asked either.
 
Damn that's a great link, thanks teazer. Just checked out the Apex site and they'll work out way cheaper (especially if the prices quoted on their site - http://www.apexbrakes.com - are in CAD not USD). I need brake lines so will be investigating further...

This looks awesome!!! You add the fittings, you add the angle between MC and caliper into the fit, choice of chrome or black fittings, choice of line color etc ..... and all for $45 for one line.
I will likely go with these guys :)
 
Prices seem to be in USD - I just went through the process to the checkout. Nice low shipping for Ontario ($5.65 Purolator Express) but add 35% for the currency.
 
"Purolator Express" has become a contradiction in terms the last few months sadly. I know they're up against it like everyone else but damn they're slow to MTL. I waited over a month for Express to show up, a mate waited over two. And the items were shipped from Ottawa.

How do you go about measuring brake line length? That sounds like a really dumb question I know. But is the line length measured from where the banjo meets the line? Sorry for the thread hijack Charlie.

I just sent them an email with the same questions. I believe it should be from center of one banjo fitting to center of other, but i emailed them to confirm.

$45USD is $61 CAD, or there abouts, so it still comes out less than piecing it together from fortnine and doing your own fittings on the ends.
 
Aye, I emailed them too. Never installed braided steel brake lines before, but from what I've learnt it's necessary to factor in the fact they won't bend like rubber hoses and so add on a few more inches worth of length when ordering to account for the lack of flex at the banjo.
 
Braided lines are very bendy - but perhaps not right where they connect at the banjo, where you don't want any sharp bends anyhow.

FWIW I like Speigler lines, but might look at this company for a line I'll need for my R75/6 big brake conversion.
 
I really like Speigler lines for quality and the fact that the ends can be rotated. Aeroquip/Earls are also good. I used to get line made while I waited at a shop in the UK when I used to visit regularly on business and they were superb, but no longer in business.

FrenTurbo used to make great and very stiff teflon lines with changeable end fittings too.

But for the price, nothing beats those guys I linked earlier. I have their lines on restomods, restorations, drag race bikes and so far so good.
 
I don't know what you have available for automotive suppliers, but you're looking at 3AN brake lines and fittings. There are literally thousands of sources for that stuff here in the US with hose lengths in 1" to 2" increments from 6" up. I get the banjo fittings for as little as $5.

welcome to Canada .... 120mm M8 1.25 specialty bolts (for my rotor adaptors) are Just under $2 each at McMaster Carr.
They won't sell to a non-business address, so i had to buy locally and my price was almost $6 per bolt! That's 200% more. But it is the way it is. You don't have a lot of options up here. That guy that ordered mine likely just got them in from McMaster Carr anyways and just added their markup on it. That's how most businesses here operate .... they just get stuff out of the USA and add their markup.

I know it's a shock to you guys when we create questions like this, but the reality is that you have EVERYTHING available to you and with great prices as well. Not so much up here. Things can be quite a bit more expensive.
