"Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

Im not running the same carbs, or the same internals, but my jetting appears much sootier. I cant seem to ever get a good looking plug (like my sportster) on my Honda. My 175 always seems to have more usable power with a bigger jet at the cost of the sooty plug life. My next idea is to lower the...

A tight fit is good... *wink wink nod nod* I think that those are the same K&N's that I have on the PE24s. The filter was hard to put on at first, so I used a hair dryer to warm them up. They've since stretched, and now can be installed with ease.

I think you might be able to get away with a smaller shock, if you can find the right one. I would also consider adding a bit more bracing from the upper hoop to the swingarm. But i think thats out of scope at the moment. I would put the engine back in the bike so that you can measure the...

Since the rear sprocket is below the center line of travel you'll need to run a huge sprocket in the rear to make the tension side of the chain not grind against the pivot point. Even if the swing arm is level when you load the suspension, Having the ability to travel all the way own there on...

I like the look, but... With that length of a shock your chain is going to chew up the swing arm pivot. The swing arm needs to be almost level to not rub the chain.

Did you have to make a tach adapter for the tach? Its electric right? I had to make an adapter for mine since it was meant for automotive use. It dwells slower than yours and i think my resistance calculation was wrong when I read some instructions online. The lowest setting was two cylinders...

That will work great. I made some spacers out of phenolic material which gave me a bit more length for my PE24's. No problems so far.

Id suggest posting pics of the plug before tearing the engine apart. If its super rich, it will be black but dry and a matte black color. There should be two orings. The 175 has oil passages for both rear outside studs. If the orings are in bad condition the headgasket may gently leak oil into...
