    Another GR650 Build

There are ways to shorten forks, I can't say how to do it on those GR / GS forks though. I can say you don'twant to cut the springs down though - that changes the spring rate. Ebay clipons aren't that bad, but you might want to swap out the Allenhead bolts that come with them. The frame...

GR650......starting over for the last time

View of the left side: And the right side: Now that the mid section is done, I can order the last couple pipes to get the muffler where I want it. In the meantime though, there is some powder coating and painting to do....

Thanks Mike! Hope you're getting better every day man.... Ordered up the tubing to do the mid section of the exhaust: And finished cutting / welding / grinding everything last night:

    Another GR650 Build

Just dealt with Cone Engineering myself. Took about a week for them to get tubing from CA to PA, and that's my only complaint.... which isn't all that bad anyway. I found this tube coping calculator online and it was really useful, so thought I'd share: http://metalgeek.com/static/cope.pcgi...

Yep. I've been done and riding it all season. All these pics are a year old. Two more minutes Turkish.

GR650......starting over for the last time

And rolled the whole thing outside today for a better look at the fairing, mirrors, plate / signal mount / etc: Ordering some mandrel bends for the exhaust over the next day or two.... but that's it for now.

GR650......starting over for the last time

I took the headlights out to get better access to the wiring, and when I reinstalled them I used the wrong holes (why they look low in the fairing). Made a bracket to hold the rear signals & license plate. Had to get separate led bolts to illuminate the plate though:

GR650......starting over for the last time

Cleaned up all the wiring under the dash (still need to make a bracket for the speedo sensor, so it's not hooked up yet): Ran the wiring for the gear indicator, and added a relay for the ignition coil. Since the relay is putting out full voltage from the battery, I ran a wire from it up to...

Wish I could help more Ben. Obviously, an older GS sending unit would require you cutting a hole in a GS500 tank where the whole assembly would fit..... But where were we here? I powder coated the aluminum dash and used automotive door trim around the edges:

    1977 Suzuki GS750 Resto-Mod

The B12 front end is usually a good option if you need longer forks (like I did on the GR). If you can fit a Katana / GSXR front end, I'd recommend it since they are more available. I can help much with the swingarm though. I don't pay much attention to what fits the 750. I did right down the...

Yep, sign me up. Any idea what swingarm / forks / wheels you're looking at Mike?

GR650......starting over for the last time

Nope. Stock GR tank has a sending unit (so the wires were already in place) and the GS850 tank has a sending unit. It's a win-win deal for me. If you search around on ebay for GS fuel tank sending units, there's always a couple on there. I know you want one for a GS500....

Mike!! I heard you had a run in with a hooved rat.... glad to see you're at least typing. We wish you a speedy recovery bud. When deer season rolls around in PA, I'll try and get a couple extra for you.....

Probably 100 little kids in China.....: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201339327407?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT But the gear indicator feeds off of wires coming from the engine (pre-existing on the GR650) the same way as a neutral indicator light. Stock, the GR has 5...

GR650......starting over for the last time

Thanks fellas! Worked on the dash a little more recently. A red led bolt for the oil pressure light, and tested the fuel gauge too. Since I'm not putting 6 gallons of gas in the tank just to test it, I just extended the wires that hook up the tank, and flipped the tank over on the floor. Went...
