How to repair hairline crack in crankcase?

If you are genuinely interested in the performance of the CG, it runs very well. The side stand is very well lubricated.

How to repair hairline crack in crankcase?

It is a hairline crack near one of the bolt holes. I'm not going to to take my bike apart to take photos.

1979 Honda CB 125 Cafe Racer

VonYinzer, It is not insanely simple. It is do-able, if you know how to use a spanner, but not insanely simple. But I agree, dive in.....

1979 Honda CB 125 Cafe Racer

Consider replacing the engine. No idea what the market is like where you live, but over here a CG125 engine or one of the chinese clones should be far less than $500, and should bolt straight in, as the CG is just an improved reliability version of the CB. Seen them for about £100 on ebay, that...

How to repair hairline crack in crankcase?

Hi. Had the clutch cover off to replace a broken bolt, noticed a hairline crack in the wall of the case near where the bolt went. Before the bolt was removed, the bike leaked oil pretty bad, now it is much better, but still seems to have a very minor leak. Not sure if this is beacuse I made a...

CG125 deglazed front brake shoes and drum, still poor performance.

"spongy means spongy :) like it keeps moving even when the brakes are applied" No, I wouldn't call them spongy. I would say the cable and lever are weaker than my fear grip upon spotting a van turning without indicating. I don't expect miracles, I just want the brakes to work as well as they can.

CG125 deglazed front brake shoes and drum, still poor performance.

"i am assuming it is a single leading shoe ?" I think so, yes. "personally i feel oem organic shoes grip better" You mean the Honda branded part? "is your lever spongy or does it come in hard ?" Define spongy. When I pull the lever it moves a bit then stops. If I squeeze with what I...

CG125 deglazed front brake shoes and drum, still poor performance.

I have a CG125, I deglazed front brake shoes and drum, still poor performance. I'm no expert but the rest of the parts seem in good condition, my friend reccomended I replace the shoes. Ideally I would like to replace the front end with a disk brake, but can't afford it. If I buy EBC shoes...

Rear shock bushings, correct fitment? + Couple other questions.

I suspected the rubber binding was not a major issue, sounds like I didn't need to bother fixing it. Oh well. The metal to metal binding I would count as extreme. Quick replys on this forum, thanks!

Rear shock bushings, correct fitment? + Couple other questions.

Rear suspension was very stiff, removed shocks to investigate. Rubber part of bushings was wrong size, so I trimmed to fit. Aluminium tube that goes through rubber was OK for top mount, but too long for bottom, trimmed it to fit. Extra washers were on it, binding the rotation even with properly...

Brackets to hold headlight fairing, limited tools, more limited budget?

It is a small fairing, from a Kawasaki AR125. You can see it test fitted in my thread about "exact opposite of do the ton" I have some brackets designed in my mind, I am guessing the fairing + bracket will add about 2.5 kg on the front end, does this seem aceptable? About 1kg on the front was...

Sidi Motorcycle boots. UK size 7. Rough but fixable. £10 + Postage.

Bought a pair of Sidi boots from ebay, they have very worn soles, but look fixable. They are too small for me. Not looking to make money, I just need them out of the way. I thought somebody here might like them rather than chucking them in the bin. Can take a photo if anyone is interested. I...

Business casual- What's your gear for the ride to the office

From a protection point of view, they all look equally as poor as the builder boots I wear, but still better than shoes. (I bought a pair of used Sidi proper bike boots (that don't fit me). They seem to be a well regarded brand, but the boots are far less substantial than the builder boots...)...

Business casual- What's your gear for the ride to the office

By my understanding, a motorcycle shoe cannot be made. Shoes do not cover the ankle. If you don't care about ankle protection, then would not any sturdy leather shoe be suitable? I have RST kevlar jeans. The quaility is questionable. I had to send the first pair back to get a set that was sewn...

Brackets to hold headlight fairing, limited tools, more limited budget?

Could use some inspiration for the mounting hardware. The mount for the bottom of fairing will be easy. The mount for the top needs to be quite a complicated shape. Messing arround with the bits of aluminium I have, I could bolt something together that will probably be suitable, but it will be...
