That is correct.

Runs fine on right cylinder, won't run on left alone. With both in it does not run well. After those tests I switched the points wires going to the coils (blue to yellow and yellow to blue) and plugged the right coil in the left cylinder and the left coil in the right one. Bike runs fine on...

I can tell it's not sticking anymore, I think it's just not pushing the push rod in enough to engage the clutch. I've checked and double checked the order of the parts. How much is the mechanism supposed to move when you squeeze the handlebar lever?

Made sure battery was charged fully and started checking spark/timing etc. The bike runs much better with the left side spark plug wire unplugged. Like I get a normal idle and and it returns to idle as it should, etc. As soon as I plug that spark plug wire back in it starts doing all it's...
