After much thought i decided to just do a cafe racer build on my Sportster 1200. I figure why mess with finding a used bike that has alot of unknowns. I know my bike well so I am just going use it and build it. Burly stilletto shocks rear, springs in front, remove fender and cut the struts in...
That Sprint looks nice...probably rare..here in the states. I did some research last night and got some further direction...1982 Suzuki GSXR 1100E really grabbed my attention, and the bikes from Honda and Yamaha that competed with this bike during that time period. Vance & Hines makes pipes for...
I dont think I could go without another bike to ride, unless something forced me into that situation. I would drive a rust bucket or dirt bike converted for the road if i had to, just to have something to ride while my project bike was in pieces.
Yah, the blast does look like a good platform to build on other than the engine being small. I read a few people saying on another forum that a 515kit, stage 2 headwork, and cam is close to an 1200XL in power. Power to Weight being what it is on the blast.
But the other buells look like good...
I was also considering some Buell models. Have even thought about the Buell blast but given its a 500CC single i would need to hop up the engine to get some power out of it. 515 Kit or 600 kit plus cams and headwork is over a grand. A-lot of money to put into a blast. But you can get em for...

Over the weekend I decided to look at doing a sportster café racer build. I am still thinking about the other bikes Honda CB's mostly. But given my history with sportsters, working on the engines, electrical etc. seems like a good option since I know the bikes well. Even an 883cc sporty has...
Most riding will be back-roads. Highway only to work. 15 - 20 minutes tops. Thinking I need a CB450, or cb550 at the very least for the highway and due to my size. But will look for a bigger bike if I can find one running for the right price.
The Suzuki SV40 with Ryca parts is intriguing...
I am new to this forum. I joined as I have been wanting to do a café racer build for years. I finally think I am ready to start something in the next few months. My question is which bike to use for the build. I am 6'2" 228 lbs have been riding Harleys for about 16 years. I did have a Honda...
