Good interesting information many thanks Teaser...hence why you need to do a plug chop at full throttle to really see what's going on....

    CB400T Overheating....

Thanks Sonreir....maybe all is okay...and its just the header wraps, it just seemed all round very hot...I will keep a eye on it and see how it progresses with more miles on the engine, and hopefully the wrap will bed in okay. Thanks to all for comments.

    CB400T Overheating....

Hi Teazer, thanks for the comments...I did take the rocker cover off and plenty of oil in the top end, so no problem with circulation... below are the temps...what do you think...are these normal? Left head temp beside spark plug 130 degrees, right side same place 140 degrees, under...

    CB400T Overheating....

Gentlemen...got to run the bike at lunchtime... Left head temp beside spark plug 130 degrees, right side same place 140 degrees, under transmission/sump 90 degrees, exhaust headers 300/320 degrees..... Verdict...is that too high???

I'll revert this evening with what the temp is...then we can see if I have a problem or not...with over heating.

    CB400T Overheating....

Hi Barnett, No mechanical advance...the pick ups are fixed position...I have also googled this and came up with the same answer. I have a heat sensor gun, I will test this evening...and see what sort of temps show up, after a good run. When you say how far its bored out...what do you mean...

    CB400T Overheating....

Thanks Barnett I'm inclined to agree with you, and I figured the engine was running a little rich...but that's not getting me away from it overheating, I'm looking for possible causes, timimg is fixed so I can't advance that, if it's running a little rich, then its hardly a fuel/air...

    CB400T Overheating....

Thanks Guys.. No pre-ignition or detonation..runs fine, but cuts out when it gets hot also, it was spitting oil out the breather pipe when hot... not sure the timing can be change on this model, it seems fixed...the pick ups can't be moved.

    CB400T Overheating....

Hi Sonreir, I have put 62 miles on it and the wrap is smoking a lot, while at traffic lights even after a few minutes, idling. I have not pointed a heat gun at it, but, its smells very hot and feels too hot..also when I turn it off I can hear the oil gurgling around the head.. I can get a heat...

    CB400T Overheating....

Hi All, I have just finished building a CB400T cafe racer, and i'm experiencing overheating. the engine had been rebuilt and is running very well, but its overheating, a lot, its getting very hot, so much so the fiberglass wraps on the exhaust headers start to smoke. I'm running with VM32...
