Filter don't solve rust in the tank, check your carbs after putting filter on it and i'll bet you that there will always be crap in your float bowl after some time. I've put brand new filters on and if your tank isn't perfect then it will end up there.
they are a thin aluminum badge. You can use heat gun or try to get edge up like i did but you risk scratching the cover and if you are not re covering then it means more sanding and polishing.
Looks good so far, and who really cares about cutting up an original it's your bike and it's only your opinion that matters, there were only like 60000 made per year and they are pretty common. I see them for sale all the time. I like how anybody who cuts a UJM is now a hipster lol.

Bike looks great!!! I used a Steel Dragon airbox on the one i built and it seems to work good, bike runs good all through range, but i did go up on jets to 75 and 110 i think.
I used metal specks and 2k on a tank and it was great. Looked almost professional. Nice project and so you know the duplicator will burn off the exhaust almost immediately at the head pipes, as it gets too hot there. I know cause i tried it on my gs.
