Yamaha GRT-1 (Gravel Road Tracker Ver. 1) from the Northwest

So I thought I would bring the collective up to speed on this old project. It finally got mostly finished :o even though a project bike is really never finished. I added some gauges so I could keep the thing semi-legal: The speedo was the most difficult - added a mount for the magnetic...

New Website if your build is Yamaha Enduro Based (or you just like them!)

So a bump to keep this kinda fresh. I last updated back in June, and since then we have about 660 folks registered on the site with a lot of international knowledge coming to bear. More manuals, more vintage articles, even a free classified ad section if you are buying or selling Yamaha Enduro...

Tim approved this post :D Several folks have inquired as to a source of information for the old two stroke enduros. I have previously sent them to a site that they have had issues signing up or logging in. We are changing all that. We have a new site set up and there is a small forum, blog...

Modern dirtbike front end on old Yamaha Enduro

We have started a new website for the old enduros at www.Yamaha-Enduros.com where you can get good information, manuals, specs, etc. there is a forum for questions too. I have a 1970 AT1 which is actually decent on the street (55-65 mph). It has stock front forks, just cleaned, re-sealed and...

    Yamaha DT400 help

Most likely too lean of mixture. Could be run out of two stroke oil too. Remember, as you increase the amount of oil in the mix,the gas gets leaner - same when you increase airflow (such as using a Uni-filter over stock. Leases gas = leaner. Almost always better to be rich and foul a plug than...

    Yamaha DT400 help

Good bike. I have a 78. Motor is different a bit from the 75-76 model, but same general design. Go to www.yamaha-enduros.com and sign up - free and there are PDF versions of the factory service manual there. Also a forum with folks to give some guidance. The electrical on that year is fairly...

Stock should be 18" on the AT1. The DT1 was stock at 19". The option for both was 21".

You can fit the front end of of the RT/DT (250/360) series on the AT1 frame. Direct bolt up. 34mm fork tubes and really enough travel for that bike. They may be slightly longer, but can be slipped up in the tree a bit to compensate. You probably will need the larger hub also, but I am not sure...

Two Stroke hierarchy, some advice please.

I can't guarantee the '77 CDI setup will work, but I have successfully installed a '75 DT400 CDI setup on a '72 DT1. You need the CDI box, the coil, the stator and flywheel from the donor bike and use them all. Crank taper is correct. The later flywheel fits in the earlier case, but the early...
