OK so I think I've found a good candidate for my next project, its a running, rideable 1982 Suzuki gs550 looks really good and has had bunch of stuff replaced and been maintained pretty well. My question would be known issues with this model and advice or info when I go to start working on...
Thanks, I'm getting ready to rip the front forks off( there junked) and swap for a different set I got. Then try to get it done I'm getting tired of looking at it and want new project, so hopefully it'll b sold b4 long and I'll b onto my next project
Maybe true but I figured I would also get the guys who say.... stay away from this because I had one and parts were hard to get or they had motor issues with this or that. Plus everyone has bikes they love or hate for one reason or another, and some are founded(some not) and I wanted to see...
If I wanted a modern sport bike like the CBR I would just buy an R1. But I don't and I think they made enough 70's Hondas that they would not lead to ridicule for modifying them, its not like cutting up a Vincent or Brough Superior.
Re: CX 500 project tracker starting to take shape
Got mount sorted out for headlights today. Its ugly but works, I'll have to pretty it up later on.
Low beams
High beams
They are way bright, gonna have to figure out, I think I should be able to put a potentiometer (variable...
D9canada, thanks for the great insight on the Honda 4's. I'm am mainly planning on a one up setup. I really will have a hard time not building a scrambler style with dual sport tires, but I want to build a more street style this time around. It will mainly be used to run around town on small...
Not much progress, more like regress. I have been wiring bike up, I have the main electrical for the engine wired, and I put in an RFID key setup on it so I could do away with the key switch. And I have the main bus fuse block wired up for the lights and everything else, now I have to start...
One thing I did when making my seat pan and electrical tray was on top of the masking tape I used aluminum tape(for duct work, not duct tape tho) and waxed it and my parts came off easy. I was worried about the resin soaking into the masking tape and being a pain to get off. And I had saw...
I'm looking for a new project, I'm close to finished with an 82 cx500 tracker/scrambler. I had a 76 gt550 but was way too nice to cut up. And I have a bone stock 74 kawi h1. Kinda want to build a cafe racer/ brat style bike to run around town on. I like the fat wider tires, so I would like to be...
Re: CX 500 project tracker starting to take shape
Not yet, I've got it all torn back apart now, making fiberglass battery box and tray under seat for electrical. I need to make longer headlight bracket so that they can point towards the road instead of sky. But I do have pic of rear tail light...
Its been a long snowy winter so forgive the trashed garage. Been working on this since about august or so, hope to have it done in next month or so. It is an 82 Honda cx500, I made my own fiberglass seat(which needs to be upholstered) paint is copper metallic, wrinkle black on motor and satin...
Southern Ohio here(proctorville to be exact) I've recently gotten a 82 cx500 that I'm turning into a scrambler/street tracker its in parts but be back together before too long hopefully.
