    Project "Fat Man" -- XS1100 redux w/pics

Getting the bike up and running again for the coming season. Didn't get to do as much riding as I would've liked last year because of a rotator cuff injury. Hoping all is well now... fingers crossed. I found the elusive Mike's XS650 Standard seat on eBay and couldn't resist. Long trips on the...

Haven't done much to the bike other than maintenance and riding. I'm happy with it. I did swap the speedo out for a 140mph one I got for $5 at a swap meet. I think it was from an XS650.

Update time!!! Got a bunch of work done but still have a long way to go. --Redid my seat mount to make it sturdier. --Installed the Roc City seat pad. Not 100% satisfied with it but my ass is thankful. I don't like how the back of the pad meets the hump (visible creases in the cover) and the...

Thanks! Been doing a lot of riding the past few days and have had no problems at all (knock on wood). Rode to New Hope, PA (70 mile round trip) last night and pegged the speedo on 202. Also rode to Valley Forge this afternoon before the storms hit. Here are some pics: The other bike is...

Here's a pic from the front. Also, does anyone know what kind of bolts I should be using for my exhaust/cam chain tensioner and where to get them? Been using 12.9 hardware store bolts temporarily but don't feel too good about it. What should I be using?

Thanks! Painted the seat, installed the clip-ons, and added a temporary brake/plate light. -The tubing on the clip-ons is too thick for my Emgo bar ends. Probably gonna cut up a spare set of drag bars and use those instead of the supplied tubes. -Been having a lot of trouble finding the brake...

I slapped it back together yesterday and went for a ride around my friend's neighborhood. Bike ran like a champ despite sitting in the corner of his garage for more than a year and a half. Still no signals, brake light, expired plate, etc. I was getting kicked out and no one with a pickup was...

Put the new gaiters and fork brace on. I also modified the bracket for the gauges so they're lower and much closer to the headlight than before. Clip on bars are coming in the mail and I'll be installing them just under the top tree to replace my clubmans. Still working on the seat mount...

Fatso, continued "Big girls need love too" I finally got around to revisiting this project after more than a year of sitting. Other projects and priorities brought my build to a screeching halt. But I'm finally back in the game and my bike is the center of attention once again. Replaced the...

Fix, your bike was one of the ones that made me really want to buy a Dyna seat and build a bobber at first. It's 99% of the reason I bought those white walls lol. Here's another Dyna seat... I eventually changed direction for a more cafe look after my friend installed some clubmans on his...

It's not easy to make the 11 look good but it's doable. Here are some bikes I've been drawing inspiration from: The elusive Mikes XS650 seat!!!!

I've seen a couple of midnight parts here and there but they can get pretty expensive for a 30+ year old parts. I've just been collecting pieces from eBay and have a bunch of 78E bits from an untitled parts bike I bought. I was also thinking about making a hybrid motor out of my 81 XS and the...
