    Soldering brass floats

I've used the same method several times. Only difference is I didn't boil the water. I found hot tap water to be hot enough to get the desired result. FYI, keep and eye on that float. I've had several where once they cracked once, they just just keep cracking. Must get weak. Last year, I had...

Stripped Top Fork Bolt On GL1000

I would think a small machine shop, or a local home hobby machinist could make you one pretty cheap if all else fails.

    Starting woes after oil change

Just as an aside for your future reference, checking a battery with a multi meter is less than helpful. It's possible for a battery to read 12+ volts with no load, and still be too weak to start a bike. When you suspect a battery, load test is the only way to be sure.

Has spark, has compression, but doesn't start...WHY?

Explain how you got the fuel system clean. In the picture, the carbs are pretty ugly. And (no offense) but you seem like you may not know how to properly clean and tune a carb. Not saying it can't be timing, but you're putting all your eggs in that basket too easily. When you buy a bike that's...

Sportster tank on a rebel 450. Help!

Could the extra tube you speak of be a vacuum tube? Where does it lead? Some metric bikes have vacuum activated petcocks. The sportster petcock is just old fashioned gravity feed. If your Rebel has a vacuum petcock, and you end up using the Harley one, you'll need to find where the vacuum line...

I've contracted cafe racer disease and may need help.

Your problem isn't clutch. You either have a bent shift fork, or work or broken gear dogs.

    CB500 front end assembly woes

I don't know the CB500 specifically, but the axle spacers are side specific on most bikes.

    CB360 Speedo face plate color?

I don think there is a name or code for it. It's just the greenish they used on gauges. If you want to match it, you'll have to do it by eye.

    Reinstalling Air Box

I don't have advice specific to that model, but when an air box is hard to get on, I'll usually hit the boots with a heat gun to soften them up. Hair dryer would work too. Don't take it back off. Just heat them up now then try to get them the rest of the way on.

    wraping pipes?

No. The idea is that it keeps the exhaust gas hotter, and therefore less dense, so free flowing. But as we all know (or should know) free flow doesn't equal more power. And if you wrap a bike with mufflers, then it's doing nothing because it's the muffler is metering the flow, not the density of...

    CB350f has issues

If it idles, but tried to die when you give it throttle, that is usually a slow jet problem. Is there Amy chance you got a little crud in there? The slow jets have the smallest holes and are the easiest to clog.

    Cafe Racer Shootout Daytona FL.

I really dig your bike. I have a question though, it looks like your rear tire doesn't have much clearance. Do you have any rubbing issues? I only ask because as I continue my build, it's a concern I have.

Why is this a stupid idea? Front brake conversion.

I think I remember reading an article that said the caliper and master cylinder have to be compatible. It was a detailed description that had to do with hydraulics. I don't really know much about hydraulics, but I seem to remember is was compared to a gear ratio. Maybe someone knows more than I do.

    Hand controls with no electronics?

Just about any motocross bike. Or, any catalog dealing with chopper type parts.

    Key replacement

On some newer Hondas, you could find the key code imprinted inside the ignition and on the helmet lock. Not sure if they were doing it in 76 or not. One of the more knowledgable guys will know.
