Ha, I live right over off of 2nd Ave, closer to Flat Shoals. I'll randomly see a big group of bikes at Brewhouse in Little 5 when the weather is warmer, and it seems there are a few bikes that show up in East Atlanta Village whenever I'm out drinking.
I'm going to try to finish the brakes and...
Ok so it seems like my kickstart on my CB 450 is no longer turning the engine over (it worked last time it ran~November), and about the same time the shifter won't shift smoothly and will only go 1-n-2-3. It used to shift smoothly up and down through all 5 gears. This happens when it's...
Hi Sven! I hope you're happy to hear that I have zero intention of painting it black, but instead trying to get as much of a "brushed" look all over. I was also concerned with the roundness in the bore where it was welded. I measured it's roundness with a little modification of my dial gauge...
No I haven't had a chance to yet. I haven't gotten rid of any of the old stuff just so I can weigh before/after when I'm done. I do know that the dual brakes would weigh about 2 pounds less than the original single brakes 8)
I know :D I have a dust seal under there as well, but this looked...
ok update time!
I got some more work done. It's been slow going (machining took some time) but good progress has been made.
I FINALLY was able to get the wheel bearing out, and test out the fit of the new ones
new bearing, new axle
some measurements.
The wheel bearings are only supported...
But the CBR doesn't ;)
Besides, I was a bit drunk when I was measuring the bearings, I'm surprised I took pictures at all! And for these purposes it ended up working out since I was just comparing the two.
By fork brace do you mean the main bracket on the fender? it doesn't seem like much of a brace at all...
I kinda want to go for the Cafe look with a subtle modern touch. I'l probably be changing the color of the forks to a more raw aluminum color than the current Olive-ish gold.
On another...

Figured out that the lower bearing race for both the 450 and the CBR are the same installed height. This means that the taper-roller upgrade should go in perfectly and sit at the right height! The upper ball bearing race fits on the CBR stem perfectly, and would still work, but sits maybe...
Re: CB450 project started "Brownie" Update 1/12!
Well I've been financially in a pinch since this summer, but I've started a new job and started some more work on the bike!
I decided that I was going to upgrade the front suspension soooooooo.....
CBR600 F4i shocks, axle, brakes, and bar...
Ok, so I got the new coils installed. Only got about half of the progress on film (you know how it is, excitement gets ahold of you!
How the bike stood before the tank came off again :-\
New coils
What I'll be making these brackets out of, some random Aluminum I found in the shop
Old...
