Got it, info keeps pointing to gap, I will try that again. But on the springs, if they were weak or stretched wouldn't static be on but at any engine speed the springs would allow the advancer to open before the higher RPMs?
Yep, that is why I am trying to trouble shoot. The static is dead on, but the dynamic timing is advanced for the left points and slightly retarded for the right, cant make any sense of it. I have shortened my springs to try and tighten them, but no luck.
Asked on another forum but haven't gotten any ideas yet.
Was wondering what it means when you have to rotate the points plate extremely far to get the static timing spot on?
I am thinking that the advancer is worn down and near replacement but wanted to make sure I am not doing something dumb...
Thanks for the suggestions. I do know that there is a crack in the headlight so I think I will start there with some dielectric grease and work my way down.
Carb bowls might also be a good place to look as I know the box isn't perfectly sealed.
For the ignition, is it ok to shoot WD-40 down...
Forgot to mention all that.
Stock airboxes, some of the rubber is rotted out and not a perfect seal. There is a gasket on the points cover. The bike sits outside under a tarp. But a few times, including last night the wind whips hard enough to pull it off.
The nights that I found the cover...
Have a 78 cb750 that ran great last month but like most of the US my city has been getting hammered by rain this month.
Finally took the bike out 2 days ago and it would die shifting into first from idle and into 1st from 2nd, but I was able to pull in the clutch and restart the bike while...
I don't remember if there was a black box on the bike, but either way I didn't grab it off before the tow truck took it away. These were the only pieces I snagged
Bought a 77 CB750F SS about 10 years ago. Didn't know much about bikes and thought this ignition was stock, when the bike was totaled, I pulled this off for a friends bike.
10 years later I have a 78 Cb750k with a points system which leads me to believe this unit wasn't stock as it seems like...
Haha, by lines you meant oil lines. Forgive me, it is early in the morning here.
I'll be sure to grab the lines as well if I go that route. I have been told there is a great junk yard with quite a few cb750s to pick through so I am hoping the cost wont be too extreme if I find what I am...
You just mean aesthetically the lines don't work with the older oil tank?
The tank on the bike I picked up is pretty trashed so that was going to be replaced. And the idea behind getting the older style oil tank was to get the side covers that matched and allow the chrome cap to stick up out...
Just picked up a pretty nice '78 750K8 but I like the oil tank styling of the older models (big chrome cap and open side cover).
Anyone know if the older style oil tank is a bolt on replacement of the newer style?
thanks
Looking for large high quality images of the various honda wings used through out the 60-80's.
Want to try a few different vinyl decals on my tank to see what looks best so a Vector image is preferred, something that can be scaled with out losing quality.
Anybody got em?
You will have to measure as I am not familiar with how long the hose needs to be on that bike.
The fit is universal but if you have a hard line with metric threading coming off of the caliper it wont just bolt straight on. You will need a banjo bolt running of of the caliper.
