I sent you an email.. sorry I haven't been on here for awhile.
I made a set of brackets for one bike but I still could use a set for the other one.
90% of the kit fits on the GS1000..
Just the mounts that don't work..
I'm working on a new set of mounts.. Not quite done yet.. I need to haul...
Can someone explain this?
The 89-91 GS500E set 03-0025 is identical to the 03-0069 78-79 GS550 set.
it's not just a fluke on the diagrams.. I have two 03-0025 kits at home and they don't come close to fitting that bike but appear to be a perfect fit for a 70's GS550..
I sent an Email off to...
8" Train light( 9" overall) from a 83 GS1100E.
Bezel is straight.. some pitting on the bottom (see pic)
No I don't have a bucket for this one

Thanks.. The kids like to come sit on the bikes while I'm working on them..
When I rolled it out to tune the carbs and take pics they all had to climb on..
The real trick is keeping them off it when it looks like this
I have a set of RAASK 80 and older GS550 rear sets that I have adapted to fit my GS1000 (no mods where made to the resets).
They work but make it difficult to mount the side covers.
I would like to trade for a set of RAASK or Tariozzi rear sets for a 78-80 GS1000..
Thanks
I got this bike last year in September for $100 with title..
This is how she came home.. I thought it would be a quick 1 month rehab, rebuild the carbs. re-seal the forks and ride.. Now I know how wrong I was!!
It's been a year and it's just now ready to ride.. All the work has been...
It's got 33mm forks and an 18" wheel on the XS-400. In 77 it had lugs to mount dual calipers so I'm set there.
The stock wheel is setup for dual rotors.. I just have to knock the dust cover off.
I already picked up a pair of FZR 4 piston calipers and an FZR master with adjustable lever..
I'm...
It's a nice kit but pretty much just FZR600 298mm floating rotors using the stock single piston slider calipers spaced in to fit the smaller offset on the FZR rotors..
My XS-400 also makes the Mikes XS 650 kit less practical.
the XS-400 has 268mm stock rotors so even a 298mm rotor will require...
This is the Omars setup.. Looks like they bolt on over the big ugly plates.
Anything with an integrated Master would let you eliminate the whole plate I would think..
Honda CBR 600/900/954/1000) rear sets would work I think and they go cheep on Ebay.
OK I've found my own info and wanted to share..
Caliper mounting
It's in Japanese but you get the idea
http://srx6blk.hp.infoseek.co.jp/SR/SR-DiskBrake.htm
Brackets for 4 piston calipers and 320mm rotors
Rotors.. Anything with a 80mm 6 bolt circle will fit the XS-400 and XS-650 wheels...
Thanks for the info.. I understand the issues around the fork swap..
I may try and avoid any front axle/caliper/rotor issues by just going with the whole FZR600 front end..
It has the same 25mm/30mm stem sizes as the XS and the length to work..
then it's down to making sure the trail and all is...
