Finally got the frame painted, got held up because I acquired a bmw e30 and have been putting my efforts into making it drift ready. I started putting the bike back together. Next week is spring break so I will be assembling the majority of the bike.

The cb360 triple tree is fairly easy to find for cheap. Just keep looking on eBay until you come across a good deal. You have to have both the bottom and top triples because they have a different offset than the cm400 bottom triple. I got mine for 40 dollars. Make sure it isn't a cb350, they may...

    1980 Honda CM400 Resto/Mod/Cafe

If you like it then go for it! Personally I don't really love it, I like the vintage look of these bikes, that's why I love cafes and the sort, the round headlight does a better job of that imo. But if you like the way it looks then try it out! Here is my front end setup, as you can see the...

    1980 Honda CM400 Resto/Mod/Cafe

I bought some after market headlight mounts for pretty cheap and bought cb360 upper and lower triple trees. They have the same bearing races, I wanted to be able to slide the forks higher to lower the bike and reduce the rake a bit. I'll have to go and look for my old mounts to see if they could...

    1980 Honda CM400 Resto/Mod/Cafe

Clean looking bike to start with! I am in the middle of my cm400 café build. On my build I am using clip-ons. I think it gives it more of a mean café look which is what I like, don't know what your interests are though. As for the suspension, what kind of modifications are you looking for? DCC...

I got some things painted. I am going to paint the frame as soon as I get the rest of the rust and old paint off it. The paint came out pretty nice for a rattle can job. Other parts are already painted but they are drying right now, I'll post those pictures tomorrow.

It's been a little while since I've posted, it started warming up so I thought I should get some work done. I've just finished a matte brush finish on the forks. I also replaced the seals and dust boots. I'm going to try and get the frame and swing arm painted soon. Then I can start some...

    1980 Honda CM400 stuff

What model of cm400 is it? T, E, C, or A? I am looking cm400t front left fork, the front wheel and all of the front disk braking parts, the front axle with spacers and speedo gear, and finally the rear wheel. If it helps I am have a cm400e and I am wanting to do the front disk brake conversion...

Yes I am using the stock tank, the cm400e tank fits the cafe look better than the cm400t or other models. So I stuck with it.

So I am thinking of doing a cb400t brake conversion. To get the disk brake. It's going to cost anywhere from 200 to 300 dollars if I buy stuff off eBay. The parts I would need to buy are the front and rear wheels. The left fork sleeve, brake caliper and master cylinder and speedo gearing. Anyone...

So I baked the cylinders an assembled the rest of the engine. It looks pretty good! I am pleased with the paint. I still need to polish all of the covers and I am going to be doing that over the next few weeks along with other parts that need to be polished. Question though. How well does steel...

Never mind about the valves, I got them installed with a friend. I am baking the cylinders today and should have the rest of the engine assembled later today.

I finally got the cylinders painted after it had cooled down for a couple weeks. It got up to about 60 degrees so I was able to paint. The rest of the engine can be assembled when I bake the paint. I also need to install the valves on the head but I don't have a valve spring compressor. Does...

Ok so I haven't painted the cylinders because I can't get a gasket off of it. It's not the head gasket, it's the lower one so its just paper, but it's been melted onto the cylinders. I have tried scraping it off, soda blasting it off. It just won't work. What chemicals could I use?

It looks good to me! I have a bench grinder and I have a couple wire wheels for it too! It's the best thing ever for getting rust off. It has really helped in cleaning up my spokes and nuts and bolts. I'll have to get the polishing wheel and compound. Should I sand pre polishing? And also, how...
