    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

The tests were done like that yes. There was no special configuration for the speed tests apart from my body position haha. That is a great idea for some simple aero! I did everything I could to make this attempt with the bike as naked as possible, but in futher testing, there a definitely some...

Cheers! Nice bike! And yes, it will be a 239cc version - you will see it cast on the cylinder. Most of the work I did was standing on the shoulders of giants. I read a lot and found some handy online calculators for intake size/volume/length and bell mouth design. Then beyond that it was...

    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

Thanks, let's see how the billet prototypes come out! I agree with you on the wheels. The wheels that I build up were on a couple hundred grams lighter than the stock ones, so there is absolutely an opportunity there to reduce weight. Thanks for weighing your bike, it is nice to have another...

From previous post: 'and it is looking like bar end mounting is the only option to be able to see anything behind the bike, even though bar end mounting was the last thing I wanted to do.' And this is where I am at... Will most likely order some machined aluminium prototypes shortly. Seems to...

Haha, yeah, they look very practical to say the least... Just don't think they would work on a custom bike where every detail has been given thought! :)

Probably a good call! I think the E-marked mirrors, at least in Europe need to be a whopping 90mm in diameter or corresponding area.

    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

Asides from the speed sensor bracket, the last parts I want to get right for the bike are the mirrors, which are a bit of a side project in themselves. I have been thinking that if I get them right I may want to make a production run of them. The plan was to make the smallest mirrors possible...

    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

Very little done on this bike since the summer but have started prototyping a better speed sensor (hall sensor) bracket for it. It picks up the M8 bolts on the rear sprocket/hub. A few more tweeks, probably 2-3 prototypes and I rekon it'll be ready to order in billet aluminium. I had a few ideas...

These are the classic full leathers I got hold of. Really nice stuff and so happy to get hold of them second hand and in such good shape.

Good ideas! And thanks for backing up the 'race day feelings'. Certainly felt like a rookie but nice to know others who do it often experience the same.

    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

Thanks all! After the dust has settled I am pretty chuffed all round. Interesting thoughts on the fuel supply situation. I have a spare carb so I can test how much fuel flows through the float valve with the float bowl off. Then I can test how much fuel the petcock flows as well. The good thing...

    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

I had already put the testing off once, so this time there was no backing out, I was fully committed. I booked a small enclosed trailer for the 4.5 hour road trip and packed a whole bunch of tools, spare parts, extra fluids etc and built a wooden ramp to get the bike up on the trailer. It was a...

    My Bultacos

Wow, that is impressive. I bet it weighs very little as well. 50hp for a 370cc 4-stroke aircooled single is a pipe dream, so 2-strokes will always have the upper hand here :) But 80hp with water cooling is just insane

    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

Here we go... As usual, dyno testing for me brought about excitement and nerves! Finally, I get to see what this engine concoction is capable of, but, was it all worth it?! What if it is a total flop?! Thankfully, the first pulls (4 runs per test) showed an ok power curve right away - 21hp...

    My Bultacos

I found you John! Lovely bike. These old two stroke singles have such nice looking engines. I had a 1975 DT400 for a while when I lived in Australia and that thing was fun. Not quite the same class as the Bultacos but similar looking head fin design at least. Any idea how much power this bike is...

    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

Awesome and impressive. I'm sure you'll get into the 160s. 128 is over 200kph, damn, with a 350cc single!

    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

Yes you can do that. The only problem is, if the petcocks membranes have failed, there is no real way to turn off the fuel delivery. Then you really have to hope that the float bowl valve is sealing well and not leaking fuel into the carb throat and then into the engine ;)

    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

Thanks John :) Awesome you have been land speed racing. It was a dream of mine to get to an event at Lake Gairdner while I was living in Melbourne but I never got there! What class are you the record holder in? All good advice, I think if I was so intent on having a road going bike I could do...

Also, actually took some time to enjoy it a bit and went for about an hours ride. It handles nicely!
