Swapped my compound slide for a milling slide and machined a square face to an off cut of aluminium, then using a slot mill put a few slots in. Then mounted it to the bike. One less job to

Shortened my first spacer a little to centralise the rim! Second one made but being 34mm long it looked too long so I wanted to break it up. I grooved it to take 2 o rings. I now have a rolling bike again.

I’ve been fortunate to find work during this pandemic which is limiting my usual garage time but a little bit of work every few days should keep pushing this forward. The cost of the lathe wasn’t too bad at £300 but I’ve spent the same again building the stand and on repair parts to get it up...

Tonight’s work was to line up the wheel which was made easier with a piece of string and my eye! Following this I used my chain monkey laser to check the chain run, you can see the laser dot on the front sprocket. Next up was a captive spacer which I turned up on my little Atlas lathe. One more...

Got my new lathe bench built and painted, and mounted the lathe, so today I made a few spacers to mount the wheel central. Just the rear left now.

I recently purchased an old Atlas lathe so I can make my own spacers and the like, and after getting a ratty z650 rear which the spokes were rusted, I decided instead of using the wheel that I’d use the wider rim on the front. with that in mind I hacked out the rusted spokes, mounted thehub...

    Kawasaki spoked wheels advice wanted.

Cheers bud. Seller seems to be full of sh!t anyway, tells me he cannot supply 40 spoke or custom spoke sizes when his ad clearly states he can!!! Back to the drawing board!

    Kawasaki spoked wheels advice wanted.

Cheers Doc, I can source 17 inch 40 hole rims and can specify a 6.8mm hole for Kawasaki spokes but I’d like to know if a rim described as fitting a supermoto will also fit a regular spoked hub? Is there anything physically stopping the fitment to a Z650 hub, spokes can be specified in whatever...

    Kawasaki spoked wheels advice wanted.

I keep changing my mind on this, I’ve been toying with using my spare rear Z650 rim (2.15) on the front hub and just buying new tyres, BUT I have a pair on new Conti boots here and am still thinking of getting 17 inch black anodised rims in 3.5 and 4.25 flavour with 40 spoke holes. My rear 150...

Cheers @doc_rot providing I can recover all my spokes and the 650 rim isn’t in too bad condition I’m hoping it’ll be do-able.

    Kawasaki spoked wheels advice wanted.

I have purchased a KZ305 front wheel which is 1.6x18 and I have a spare KZ650B rear which is 2.15x18, could I remove the rims and put the 2.15 rear rim on the front hub so I could have maybe a 110/90 front and 130/80 on the rear?

KZ305 front wheel fitted, tyre is cracked so I’m gonna try and upsize it a little to get some proportion to the rear tyre. Looking at the wheel size at 1.6x18 and 2.15x18 I’d say a 90/90 and 130/80 are about right. I’d like to push the front to 100/90 but think it’ll be too big. RH wheel spacer...

I purposely left the LH suspension unit attached until the RH was complete to ensure I’d not altered the rake and trail. The only thing that has changed is the length between the swingarm pivot and shock mount, the angle of the shock was adjusted to be more vertical to maintain the spring rate...

I need an 18inch front to match the Z650 rear with a single front disc. Anyone have an idea of a suitable rim? Z400, Z305???? The 650 front is 19!
