    CB750 parts

I recently picked up a "stash" of SOHC CB750 parts and after inventorying them, I found that I had an extra set of carbs that aren't for SOHC motors. These are for the 79-81 DOHC CB750's and are stamped VB42A. I wanted to throw these out there to see if anyone would be interested in them...

    1972 CB350 Fork

If you've got an old rebuildable fork for a Cb350 lying around, give me a holler. The internal damper on my left fork has some pieces that aren't where they're supposed to be, so I'm looking for a replacement damper. Thanks for lookin' Joe

    CB350 - Rectifier Output

I was telling my wife that just the other day..."Honey, I need another motorcycle in the stable." I'm thinking bobber for the next one and more CC's. Maybe xs650 based. Unless a triumph project falls in my lap.

    CB350 - Rectifier Output

thanks crazypj and AlphaDog... At this point, I'll clean up the rest of the connections and keep an eye on it. Sometimes I think winter can't come soon enough for this motorcycle. Gonna strip it down and rebuild it, fresh harness and all.

    CB350 - Rectifier Output

Cleaned up the conductors inside the connector between the rectifier and the main harness. Also, charged the battery completely. The results are better...but still a bit low. Battery voltage, key off: 12.67v IDLE voltage: 12.97 3k+ RPM: 13.5+v Lights on Hi, IDLE: 12.9 but dropped .1 volt...

    CB350 - Rectifier Output

Thanks for the input CrazyPJ. I may have forgot to mention that I replaced the original rectifier with a radioshack unit putting new ends on the connections. I'll work through the grounds on the regulator tomorrow to ensure it is grounding properly. Maybe I performed the test incorrectly when...

    CB350 - Rectifier Output

Repaired the broken connector and connected everything back up. Now, without the bike running, there is battery voltage at the red/white wire connected to the rectifier, which is expected. I started the bike, but the voltage hung pretty low, just above the battery's 11.4v (I hadn't charged it...

    CB350 - Rectifier Output

Thanks AlphaDog...although after a few hours sleep, I realized I was chasing my tail a bit. One of the fundamental rules of voltage in a circuit is that if there is a short, you won't be able to detect any when testing to ground. If there is an open, you will detect max voltage. The 35V at...

    CB350 - Rectifier Output

Update -- after continuing to read the different posts concerning testing electrical systems on these honda twins, I headed back to the garage to run through the checks again. I had checked the continuity of the red/white wire between the rectifier connector and the battery terminal. This...

    CB350 - Rectifier Output

Running into a bit of a charging issue on the CB350 and thought I'd run it by the forum members. Initially started out with testing the rectifier, which failed the resistance tests. Inspection of the plastic "cage" around it showed that it had gotten hot enough to melt it where the cooling...

Cb350 right side oil cup cover leakage

Just finished up cleaning the oil centrifuge on my CB350. I replaced both the cup oring and the 2 orings for the cover when re-assembling. Applied a light wiping of oil to the orings prior to reinstalling the cover and made sure to not force the cover back on. After running the bike a few...

CB350 - Noises while setting timing

For some reference shots of the two chain tensioners. Here is the current one: Here is the one in the engine I just bought from my friend: That second one is in perfect shape, not a mark on it. So, now to tear down the parts engine and get the parts out of it and order a top end gasket set.

CB350 - Noises while setting timing

Good and not so good news, identified the problem. It was the cam chain tensioner, and excess slack in the cam chain causing the noise. A friend came over today with two additional engines for comparison. One has a perfect cam chain wheel (absolutely no wear on the wheel at all). I bought...

CB350 - Noises while setting timing

SONICJK and djelliott, thanks to both of you for your help. At this point, there really isn't much I can do except open up the valve train. I'll try to pick up a second engine for parts. If I find anything interesting in the cam/rocker area, I'll post up the pics. Thanks again! Joe

CB350 - Noises while setting timing

@djelliott or any of the other cb/cl350 owners out there. Would one of you be willing to record the sound your engine makes while you rotate it during a valve adjustment? Or atleast listen closely to it and mention if you hear any popping/clicking in the valve train during the rotation...

CB350 - Noises while setting timing

I pulled the cam chain tensioner and took a peek at the upper wheel. Although not perfect, it shows some wear, it still moves freely and isn't all chewed. The tensioner piston and spring moved freely. I re-installed it and adjusted it per the manual. I took a bit more time to really listen...

    Captain Meatarm

That is some very nice copper work. I'm digging the industrial look of the side covers. Every time I take a look at the thread, I'm reminded why I flagged it. Joe

CB350 - Noises while setting timing

@djelliott - I can't see inside the housing, but the bolt feels like it is tightening down on it. I wonder if it isn't taking up the slack when I loosen the set bolt, like it is stuck and the spring isn't pushing it out. I guess I can pull it and make sure that it is moving freely and that the...

CB350 - Noises while setting timing

Okay...I've posted up a video on youtube which shows me manually turning over the engine and the sound can be heard. Although it can be heard twice earlier in the video, the one at 33 seconds is the best example. The only way to describe it is a pop or solid click sound. Give it a listen...
