    Can this be fixed?

ok i seen now, could of been to long of a bolt, or could of been some gasket maker inside the threads. ive seen that happen before, someone slather on gasket maker and the cases split. IMO jb weld would fix that, if applied properly. allways a good idea to chase all threads on a rebuild

    Can this be fixed?

got any pictures of the piece that broke off? It looks repairable to me, and a skilled welder wont burn up the seal, aluminum conducts heat really well, so with a wet rag laying on that seal, and the proper TIG equipment it can be done

    69 Triumph Tr25w

So, a buddy of mine acquired a little single thumper 250cc Triumph. After a little shit talking I convinced him to keep it. And basically a local bar has this annual "Rolling Art Show". SOOO 3 weeks later and alot of late hours and we have this.

    carb synchronization

I've used that set, and I say there pretty damn good and quite accurate. The only thing I could say negative about them, is the little screw valves to adjust the amount of gauge "flutter" basically you have to play with the little valve alot to get all the sync needles so there not moving a...

    CA95 Starting issues

clogged exhaust? oh and btw whats your compression @? if its low check for tight valves, these things tend to beat the valve seat into the head after many miles which makes the valve tight.

    h2 racer kawayamazuki!

Re: h2 racer kawayamazuki! Awesome bike!!! Really cleanly done and with professional insight. I bet that's gnarly to see rolling down the road. Personally I prefer a single headlight or side by side, but to each his own. NICE BIKE

    identifying engine issue

the cylinders can be bored, i would defiantly split the cases, if the tops that bad there are some problems with oil flow probably needs some bottom end TLC. at least check it out to be sure. as far as the rocker cover your probably going to need a new one and maybe a head if its anywhere...

Recommend a product to remove "bluing" from exhaust pipes...

well if your ignition timing is off itll blue the pipes. if your carbs are off itll blue your pipes. even some bikes with stock tuning will do it, severity depending generally how long the pipe runs straight from the port, if its bent right at the port it happens easily. wanna know the real...

Has spark, has compression, but doesn't start...WHY?

Kind of a random detour here, I worked on a 1983 Triumph Bonneville 750 T140, and it lost fire. Well I installed a new ignition system and it fired but it was hell getting the static timing right The damn thing had no other mark than TDC. Older model bikes had a plug in a hole that you would...

Has spark, has compression, but doesn't start...WHY?

sounds to me like the carbs are gummed up. just because they look clean inside doesn't mean the passages flow freely. here's a test. get some either or starter fluid of some sort any kind of choke carb break cleaner will work. spray it into the open throats of the carbs under the slide with...

    squealing starter

Did you check the idler gear and the starter clutch? also, even though the bushings in the starter motor look good, without an actual measurement its hard to say one way or the other. ive seen starter motors that looked good but wouldn't produce any torque, the bushings were slightly ovaled...

    75 CB750F Carbs Stuck floats/Pins

i just dip em for about an hour in regular carb chem dip, that usually loosens the goo up enough to pull the float and needle out. it wont damage the floats if you dont leave it in for more than 5 or 6 hours. (trust me ive cleaned up some carbs FUBAR) if you have a bit of trouble with the float...

    "Most expensive motorcycle in NYC"

whats worse than a hand build monstrosity? The jackass that buys it, who thinks its soooo awesome, and assumes he has a motorcycle worth every penny he paid. Even tho it was built to be looked at and than, when it breaks after being ridden, they bring it to me a actual mechanic who sees how...

Hey everyone! This is a really informative site. I've seen quite a few tasteful bikes. I fix motorcycles for a living. I own a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Military. I also have a Yamaha Fj1100. My Enfield is going to stay stock. The Fj1100 is getting a newer model transmission and a 1250cc top...
