I bought this seat in September, 2012 and it was a very rushed decision since my bike ran like garbage back then and is still being worked on now. This thing is literally brand new, there are no drill holes or anything. It's a beautiful seat I just decided I want a banged up custom made metal...
So I know that my 1981 GS450 has a 33mm diameter on the fork tubes, so that means I can get triple trees with 33mm holes, but can anyone link me to some possible options. I am just overwhelmed because the diameter has to be 33 but also the placement of the holes or is that a pretty standard...

Ah okay well thanks for the info man I'm not gonna toy around with those eBay floats I'll just buy some OEM ones!
This is my daily driver so I can't really wait but if I need some down the line I'll let you know thanks!

Yeah I checked my part numbers but they don't match up which sucks. Mine are brass as of right now.
Could you sell me the GS450 floats? I don't think I would have a lot of luck with the GR carb stuff, thanks Rich!

That is some cool stuff I will definitely give it a go thanks a lot Rich! Do you have an opinion on the floats I posted on my thread in GSResources? Thanks seriously...
HELP! GS450 Float Bowl Leaking (Lots of Pictures/Videos)
Thanks a lot Rich! What exact carbs are on the GS500 and what year models are you referring to that would fit my bike?
I will do some research and check prices to see if it's worth it but this def helps I would have never thought of this!
HELP! GS450 Float Bowl Leaking (Lots of Pictures/Videos)
Okay I will ASAP, I am on my phone right now.
Yeah I love that forum to death but sometimes there are too many rules and opinions... Purists is the perfect word hah!
I never would have thought about that at all! I'll def eBay some and...
So I have a 1981 GS450E and the carbs used to be totally fine, and then the right one started a slow leak. I opened the carbs up and when I was done and went to tighten them down the carb body threads seemed to be stripping which made my stomach drop.
I turned my bike on one day and the gas was...
I have been riding lately, and when I get in the higher RPMs, past 5k the bike starts to bog down. It ended up being an ignition coil issue. The right coil gets pretty hot and the left one does not at all... I tested my coils and this is what I got:
Left Coil:
Primary: 4 ohms
Secondary: 18.2k...
Sorry to bog up your thread with talk about other stuff, but is 1:4 and 4:1 the same for tach ratios? Thanks so much for the info I have been looking for it for ages!!
I am not sure if the Keihen carbs are CV's or not, but here is the article I was talking about with tons of goodies: http://www.factorypro.com/tech_tuning_procedures/tuning_carbtune,CV,high_rpm_engines.html
"There is no dyno that "tells" one how to assemble or modify the carb to deliver proper...
That carb rebuild thread is amazing, it's pretty cool that someone out there with your exact parts did a total tear down with pictures and instructions. I luckily found one as well! Sheesh... four carbs does not sound like fun!
@Big Rich... makes sense, but I swear I will find the article and...
Hey I was wondering what your speedometer/tach ratio was, I want to buy some aftermarket gauges, but have no idea which ones to get I also have an '81 GS450! So whatever you use will probably work for me!
I remember someone saying a Dyno doesn't really do shit for tuning carbs, I remember hearing that. Let me try and find some facts to back that up. Nothing can take the spot of a good ear and a really perfectionist attitude plus a lot of time tuning it.
If I am not mistaken you will need to replace your main jet, pilot jet, and adjust your mixture screws till everything is nice and even. Do tons of spark plug chops after riding the bike around hard to see where you stand as far as "rich" or "lean". Here is a neat chart I made combining lots of...
The tank is off already, but I am gonna have a friend with a lot of experience take a look at my throttle cable because right now all signs point to the throttle cable, a friend of a friend said, "I bet $5000 he routed his throttle cable wrong"
