    Hmmm small bore Harley cafe???

Yes I saw a webpage or two with some examples of the race bikes, pretty sweet stuff really. The cool (to me) thing about the little bike is it is one of those things you wont see very often. Should be a cool little around town runner. The more I think of it the more I want to go pick this thing up.

    Hmmm small bore Harley cafe???

I just talked to the seller. He has had the bike 12 years and it has been stored inside the entire time. It is missing a few parts, but the motor is free and has compression, the tank has a few dings but is in decent shape and not very rusty at all. Going to try and meet with him in the next...

A tale of two GT550s'- cafe bike almost done!

Thanks for the comment! Been doing this sort of thing a log time, although not with bikes. I do not have a slip roller in house, but I have friends that do. If I had a set of templates or could get a set then it would be no issue to build a set up. Still think the first thing to do is to get...

A tale of two GT550s'- cafe bike almost done!

You know I had considered those exact mods. I actually build tanks all the time, and was sorely tempted to fab something up. The thing is is that with the stock pipes though I think it looks a little odd to have that all open, not really balanced. Some pics of some of my fabwork over the years-...

A tale of two GT550s'- cafe bike almost done!

No chance to go to the shop today so I am surfing around the net looking for the last bits I need for the GT, then hopefully go look at an Aermacchi 125 I might pick up as a new project. On another note, I have been looking into expansion chambers since I got the bike. I can make my own, but...

    Hmmm small bore Harley cafe???

Pistons/rings are not a big concern, as I can have those made up relatively easily. I do not believe "new" rods are available unless I again, have someone make them. There do seem to be some NOS and used stuff floating around, even on ebay. The bearings will have to be researched and are...

    Hmmm small bore Harley cafe???

Yeah I bounce back and forth between new sportbikes and old road machines. I honestly cannot get into some of the "heavy iron" but I do love the look of an old smallbore lightweight, although I have never owned one.

    Hmmm small bore Harley cafe???

So I am almost done with the GT550 and already on the prowl for another project. While surfing the local CL I find a project Aermacchi HD 125 for a decent-ish price. I kinda like the looks of the bike right off, but after a little research I find this...

A tale of two GT550s'- cafe bike almost done!

Re: A tale of two GT550s' So a couple days pass and things get done. sorta. Pics of the bike about half-assembled- As my thread in the help section covered, I had intended to fit a set of VM34 Mikunis in place of the VM28's the bike came with. I have spent a lot of time searching out...

    DIY Rearsets......

No worries man, I am still working on other areas of the bike. Yeah I hear you man, waterjet does suck. Looked into a plasma table earlier this year and I just cant justify it as a process right now, maybe in the future, and waterjet is OK but even harder to justify.
