    mechanical ignition advancer (CB 200)

Got the spare advancer in the mail yesterday and the rain held up enough to get my existing unit off the bike today so I decided to just go for it and rebuild one unit using the best looking parts of the two. I ended up using all of my original except the collar with the lobes, which I took off...

    mechanical ignition advancer (CB 200)

After determining the lobes on my ignition advancer were uneven (thus causing uneven point gapping per turn and uneven ignition firing/improper timing) I decided to purchase the best looking (used) advancer I could on ebay and will rebuild the best I can out of both units. I'll mark up each unit...

CL200 - High idle, lack of power in 5th gear

Hi Guys - I had this posted over at the honda twins forum but wasn't getting any responses so I guess I need to reach out to a broader audience. I'm getting ready to take on two separate (though perhaps related) issues that I've had with my bike and if anything am looking for some guidance on...

1 week - suggestions on what to tackle

So I've got a week off work and what looks to be good weather. I'm new to working on my bike (CL 200) but have made some progress over the summer (fixed all oil leaks, carbs cleaned and rebuilt, clutch rebuilt). Currently the bike will idle at about 1,800 once warm (smoothly at least), and...

cb 360 oil quantity. Have I been using too little oil?

Its my understanding that you should fill according to the dipstick level. If you drain the oil, you're not getting all of it out of the bike. So filling it with the suggested volume of oil could potentially overfill the bike (and have your dipstick reading far overfilled). I could be wrong, but...

    CB200 throttle cable issue

Yeah - if there's one thing I've learned quickly its to do the easiest stuff first. My CL200 only had 2,300 miles on it when I got it and needed to do the clutch, but I think it was used as a learner bike by the PO's children/grandchildren who undoubtedly fried the clutch plates.

    Officially the worst motorcyclist

Nothing that bad (an out of gas once before I thought to check the reserve tank, but that was the first time it happened so I wasn't sure what running out of gas felt like). I'd say you're alright, assuming you never make that mistake again. If you do...then thats pretty bad...

    CB200 throttle cable issue

If the adjusting doesn't work per the manual, do yourself a favor and replace the steel plates, friction plates, and clutch springs all at once. I ended up having to do my clutch 3 times (friction plates and springs 1st time - didn't work, steel plates the second time - helped but didn't work...

    CL200 carb tuning

So I know this isn't the proper way to do this, but essentially I'll be balancing the slides by twisting the screws at the top of the carbs. Both screws atop the carbs are screwed all the way in at the moment - couldn't I just back one screw off, little by little to see if it got better or...

    CL200 carb tuning

Just rebuilt the carbs on my CL200 and did my best to bench sync them when installing them (eyeball test said the needles were moving up exactly together, anyway). Bike will now idle at 1,000 to 1,200 rpm which is a huge improvement. My issue for now is that if I give the throttle a real quick...

New clutch, still slipping - just a bit

Just wanted to follow up - I put an extra steel plate in tonight and it seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the advice again, I was definitely a little bummed when replacing all the stock components didn't fix my slipping problem. Cable adjustment is a little trickier now and I've got some...

New clutch, still slipping - just a bit

Hmm - interesting thought. So what you're saying is that the clutch basket has been worn to the point that it needs an extra steel plate to fill the space in order for everything to bind appropriately? Could you elaborate a little more on 'the middle'? Stock set up is 4 steel plates sandwiched...

New clutch, still slipping - just a bit

1974 Honda CL200 - I put in new friction plates, steel A&B plates, and clutch springs. Torque wrenched the bolts holding the springs in at 7ft/lbs. All steel plates are oriented in the same direction. Readjusted the clutch from the bottom adjuster after finishing (Start to finish per shop...

    CL200 Carb tuning

Hi Guys, I've got a stock CL200 that I've been working on this summer. Since I've gotten it I've replaced all the clutch (then adjusted), new battery, cleaned the petcock, cleaned the oil filter, a few oil changes, muffler patch welded (baffles sound a little clanky in there), new exhaust crush...
