Tip: If you have old eyeballs (like mine) and have a hard time seeing the marks on the rotor at high revs, kill the engine, wipe down the rotor, and rub a little "White Out" (from office supply store) into the marks. Strobe picks 'em up good then...

Here's a cheap/simple solution for 'plugging' the engine tachometer port, that worked on my CB500T. Cut the tacho cable and remove the knurled, threaded collar from the engine end of the cable. Insert an appropriately-sized small bolt through the collar - facing outward - with washers inside...

Whole thing buggered up beyond repair. Need the stator, rotor and starter clutch. Outright purchase or swap for other CB500 parts: front & rear fenders, tail lite / plate bracket, gas tank & petcock, headlight bucket, handlebar, indicator light ass'y complete, 2 airbox ass'ys complete, battery...

I just ordered a BT-45 EL kit from Bill at Bore Tech, as well as a pair of Dyna DC-3-2 'mini' coils, for my '75 CB500T project. Pricey stuff but good reputation. I'm still at the beginning stage - frame not yet even powder coated - so a month or two (or more?) away from an on-the-road...
