    Cleaning old tools?

+1 on the tumbler, a little simple green and water and it cleans while you are doing something else. Take them out and dry them and then fog with some WD40. And it works great on old bike parts.

    2 cylinders not firing

Sounds like you have your plug wires swapped around, 1 and 4 should be on one coil and 2 and 3 on the other.

    RD 250/350/400 Project

I would consider selling this, it is an RD250 with XS650 forks, swingarm and wheels. I bought it just like this a couple months ago. No title, located about an hour SE of Pittsburgh. I will probably keep the RD motor and the bars but it came with four R5 motors so you could have a couple of them.

    1975 Yamaha XS650

You can use 80 on flat, easy to sand areas and it will save time but in harder to sand areas like pockets around bolt heads and such it is easy to make scratches that are hard to get out. Forget Home Depot for sand paper, go to an auto parts store or body supply shop and get 3m paper made for...

    1975 Yamaha XS650

Thanks KSwiss, Those motors were done with mainly wet sanding by hand. Start with about 150 or 220 grit and sand through all oxidation and defects then use 320, 400, 600, etc. until you get it to the shine you want then buff depending on desired finish. The first step with the coarse paper is...

    T500 something

I would look for a late 70's spoked front wheel from a GS750, It would be a 19 I guess, you could lace the hub to an 18 if you wanted. Then shorten the forks. Or just get a whole front end from the 70's GS750. That should bolt right on and give you dual brakes.

Aftermarket vintage sportbike engines, why aren't there any?

How many of those choppers with aftermarket V twins take or pass an emission test? We don't have the tests here anyway. Stuff like this is usually sold as closed course. What the buyer does with it is up to them and their local and state laws. I don't see how it's different than building a...

Aftermarket vintage sportbike engines, why aren't there any?

Yeah, there are any number of four stroke engines out of modern bikes that perform great and people build bikes with them. As far as multi cylinder two strokes though, it's not something the big manufacturers are going to do again. There are certainly old motors out there if you want one to...

Aftermarket vintage sportbike engines, why aren't there any?

You can go about as wild as you want with Banshee stuff. Even start with billet cases. There are lots of stock cores around for those though. I was thinking more like RZ, TZ, Kaw triples, Honda 250R, If someone made turnkey RZ500 motors guys would find things to mount them to.

Why do you want a 16" front wheel?

Aftermarket vintage sportbike engines, why aren't there any?

There are some iconic two stroke motors that I think people would buy quality reproductions of to put into a frame/chassis they already had or built. They would be much less involved to build and still bring $$$$.

    '83 KZ440D Cafe/Brat Build

When you take them apart to clean them write down the sizes of all your jets so you know where you are starting. Make sure your floats are set to the proper height and exactly the same. You will need to bench synch them with the idle screws, after that is done always make certain you adjust each...

CB400F First Build! College Kid's Cafe Project

With all the resources that are online these days there is no reason you can't do whatever you want with this bike. 20 years ago it would of been tougher but still very doable. Now there is basically any part you need at your fingertips, new, used or reproduction. You have videos, online...

Wanted: Suzuki t500 side stand , kickstand

Okay, yeah you are going to need something that for sure doesn't damage those pipes. Does the center stand fold up okay? Maybe fab a better, lighter, sleeker center stand and go with that.

Wanted: Suzuki t500 side stand , kickstand

I saw your build on the 2 stroke thread and it is looking awesome. I have that same tank sitting on my Titan frame. That said I would make a custom kickstand or modify one from another bike, The stock one is pretty crappy. Maybe just needs made longer but it's heavy and ugly for what it is. Old...
