D'oh, that makes me drool. If only I could talk the wife into me buying that much carbon (since this is only a part-time hobby at best).

Considering purchasing some Duratec for the finish primer. I personally buy the white (White: 714-002) -- the color makes imperfections most noticeable in my experience. Search around for better prices (and let me know since I need some more ;D) Here is one of the first links I found and the...

To help prevent loose strands, you can use some masking tape around the edges where you are going to cut.

lol, I dis-concur...I avoid poly-vinylester whenever I can. It is heavier and more prone to cracking in my experience, especially if you are putting too much resin in your part. (I know, I could talk all day about composites, too bad it is not my day job -- then I would probably not)

I am guessing that you used a poly or vinylester resin, correct? Those resins do not need gelcoat to cure, only the proper raio of MEKP and make sure it is mixed thoroughly. If your fiberglass is 1/4" thick for your final product, you have made it decently thick. Most likely a lot thicker than...

    SMR511 tank build

Well this build is not for the typical bike you see on here, but this is my current project. This is my build of a secondary gas tank for a 2012 Husqvarna SMR511. I have wanted an excuse to build a carbon fiber gas tank for a while now and I made one. I will post all pics in this OP and answer...

    Dallas/Ft Worth Introduction Thread

I happen to come across Junior's number from another forum, CafeHusky.com, and he told me about this site. I do some bike molesting, but nothing so old school like most of you on here. I have a 2011 Daytona 675 and a 2012 Husqvarna SMR 511. One of the many SMR511 projects...
