Thanks for the info. I plan on doing a custom build and would like to do rear sets. I thought the rear pegs looked like they could be adapted and look better than some new fancy aluminum ones at least for my plans for the bike.
My only plans for the motor are e-ignition, pods, and the exhaust I...
I just picked up this cb160 and I'm in the process of tearing it down to restore. While working on the swing arm I saw this and it doesn't look right but I thought I'd ask some people who know more. The tube that the rear brake lever rides on has a slight bend to the rear like possibly the lever...
Yep. It used to control the kill switch but I was at liberty one Sunday with the custom car guys and I made the mistake of letting a little kid play around with stuff on my bike. Whistle, switches,... And he grabbed that knob and wrenched on it like a water bib. Now it just spins freely. Luckily...
Thanks.
My brother is big in the hot rod community so I can ask if he could locate another. Most plates are pretty used so I was lucky to get a new one.
The handle comes off easily but the other part is the chimney so It would leave a hole if removed.
I originally had the handle off but put it back on mainly because it was designed to be removed from the buggy/horseless carriage and could be carried like a lantern. I actually considered making...
I ride this bike every where I can. Work, store, car shows, etc. It's a blast to ride and always draws a crowd.
The plating and painting is definitely a consideration.
Funny. They do look like different shocks but they are the same. I think:)
I'll take more pictures soon. Im adding a couple parts, better looking clutch/brake levers and im working on a steam whistle that will have a hand valve and will be powered by the exhaust. I do have a couple pics with...
Here is the complete bike with the new seat. I used the same leather to wrap the handle bars and added a piece of patina sheet metal mud flap/splash guard.
And of course I had to modify the key.
It only took a couple days and I was sick of the red so it was off to Tandy leather for the right stuff.
Back home for some cutting and punching.
The best part of the leather was the branding marks. I made sure to incorporate those into the build.
Next to be completed was the seat. I knew I wanted a hand laced, oiled leather but at this point in the build it wasn't in the budget. My local leather dealer wouldn't sell just what I needed so I would have to by a whole side of a cow. So to get the bike done and rideable I bought a leather...
I got a little complacent about taking photos of the next few items but next in store was the exhaust. I wanted the look of a straight pipe so I cut off the stock muffler. Worried that it may be to loud I decided to add an older VW bug tailpipe. After welding on the tailpipe I added a bracket to...
Oh that part. Yes your right. I did reinforce it. After a bit of riding the taillight would be pointing down a bit. I removed it all and welded a piece to reinforce it. Now it's solid and doesn't move. Bad design flaw on my part.
Actually I have a little over 200 miles on the bike and no problem. The tubes are mounted to a separate piece that slides into the round housing so some isolation there. And the bracket for the entire thing mounts to both seat bolts and to the frame where it exits the rear of the bike. Plus the...
