    1978 Suzuki GS550 gets a makeover

I've considered it, I did not know that the 850's used 37 mm but I have looked into various newer crotch rocket front ends. This build was on a budget though and I couldn't find the right deal. Now that I know that I may look for those. Thanks for the tip! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -...

    1978 Suzuki GS550 gets a makeover

Yeah I'm not sure what to do about that, I want to chop the stock fender up so it's a lot smaller and throw it back on. I just don't think I can make it turn out how I want it to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

    1978 Suzuki GS550 gets a makeover

Well it's almost done! Got the headlight mounted, the taillight working, the seat laced onto the fender, just a few pieces to buff and make pretty now. If you're wondering why it's in a house, it's really hot out here and we brought it in the AC to work. Let me know what you guys think. It's...

    1978 Suzuki GS550 gets a makeover

I couldn't help myself, I had to see it with the seat and tank on. I'm going to repaint the side covers, not happy with the look they have. They need some white on them. But I'm going to get it running and finished then redo them just so I can ride it before the season ends. Sent from...

    1978 Suzuki GS550 gets a makeover

Thank you. I won't let myself see the tank or seat on the bike until everything is done. I have an R1 taillight that fits perfectly in the tail fender that I still have to figure out as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

    1978 Suzuki GS550 gets a makeover

They're made for a Harley, I got them off eBay and they have no stickers or emblems on them anywhere. They fit perfect though and the cables thread right in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

    1978 Suzuki GS550 gets a makeover

The bike isn't finished yet, but it will be very soon. I'll post some pictures along the way of the frame and where it sits now. If you look closely in the second picture you can see the turn signals. When I chopped the frame off it left two ugly holes, so I decided to make them useful and...

Cuts out at 6500 RPM on GS550

Been polishing everything aluminum on the bike and just restoring it so nothing too exciting yet, but my clip ons got here today! Ill work on it all day tomorrow and post some pictures of...

Cuts out at 6500 RPM on GS550

So I sprayed carb cleaner at the carb inlets and outlets and found a small leak that would only open up at higher RPM, and also adjusted both points to .015 yesterday. Took her out for a spin after fixing the two and it ran like new. Thanks for all your help, and I'll have to start a build...

Cuts out at 6500 RPM on GS550

Yeah I know a guy through a string of other people with an 83 and apparently his is set up much different. If yours won't start try checking the gap on the points and functioning of the choke (of coarse verify fuel and spark first) but the points were messed with quite a bit on mine.

Cuts out at 6500 RPM on GS550

What year is it? The guy I bought mine from gave me an extra set of carbs, not sure of the condition because the set on there is rebuilt to factory specs. But if it's an 80's bike the carb setup could be way different (internally). I adjusted one of my points yesterday and it climbed over that...
