Greetings, fellow riders! I am listing my 1973 Honda CB350 for sale. I'm moving onto a new project and would like this to go to a great, new home.
I'm asking 3000. Located right outside Washington, D.C.
This is a genuine barn find sourced from the great Motor City - Detroit, Michigan. It was...
90 degrees (feels like 100) with 71% humidity - each stoplight is pretty dang hot today. Didn't need pomade after this morning's ride into work - just combed the sweat, lol.
nedmmo - thanks! I am thinking of going that route this week, after chatting with Rich from Sonic Springs who also recommended the same thing.
Roc City - yeah sounds like cleaning those up is a must-do. Do you think there'd be any dangers or ill effects in terms of handling/cornering from...
Haha, yeah - we shortened the fender but kept it due to the bike being used as a semi-daily commuter :) Definitely don't want to rub or have the chance of that happening.
Would love to go with the 712s but the issue I'm facing is they don't offer them in 90/90 18 (which from what I'm researching is the stock size).
I'd go with a 100/90 18 in the front, but wouldn't that rub?
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Curious - why is it generally regarded to be a bad move to slip the forks up? Bike geometry thrown off? Curious, as I never hear a reason - only that it's regarded as wrong.
After some searching, seeing this exploded view was VERY helpful. I'll go with the cut...
Thanks guys, those are a bit out of my price range as I can't get a steal on them right now, but will keep searching.
As to the running different tires Q - is that alright? Any adverse effects?
Hey gents,
I've been searching for an affordable, well-rated pair of tires for the 1973 CB350 we've restored. The current shoes are dried our from sitting in a barn for 20 years. From what I can tell - the stock rubber is 90/90 18 (front) and 100/90 18 (rear).
I'm finding good fronts, and good...
Thanks, Sonic. I may slip the forks an inch for now and do the internal modifications this winter. Not my ideal course of action, but eventually arriving at the desired solution. I think I'll pick up a spare set of springs to chop up, JIC :)
Thanks, Sonic. Couple Qs -
1) Curious as to how many coils = roughly how many inches of drop, when cutting.
2) Spacer placement at the top of the spring between it and the fork cap? (ie: http://www.truckwithaheart.com/IMG_0987.JPG)
Just got off the phone with Progressive and RaceTech. Both were excited to hear of the project and were very friendly but didn't have any springs to lower the front with. I'm waiting on a reply from Sonic Springs to see if they have anything.
The gent I spoke with at Progressive said I could...
Did you guys ever figure out the part # for the Progressive front springs? I've found several of these types of threads where someone needed to know which springs to order and people said they exist, but no concrete info was ever posted. Thanks.
Thanks, DJ. I've talked with Progressive over the phone and they said there are no products for the CB350, which really surprised and bummed out, because I wanted to do this the "right" way, as opposed to slipping the forks.
The rider of this bike we've restored is 5'3 and needs a drop in seat...
It's a 73, so they'll slide up. Thanks for the tips, guys! Will report back on how it goes. This will be my first time removing a front wheel from a bike - but looks fairly straight-forward.
Thanks, mate. This will come off as a total noob question, but does the wheel really need to come off? Should the forks slide up after the bolts are loosened? I'm curious how they wouldn't want to slide (if not seized with rust, grime) with all the load on them from the weight of the bike.
I've...
I swapped out the seemingly 20-year old spark plugs for new B8ES ones, discovered the crankcase breather nipple was obstructed by a cheap polymer hose the previous owner had put on, then fixed that as well.
The bike was much happier, and a 15 minute test ride showed much better warm-up period...
