Sorry for digging this thread up... I am thinking of buying a DT100 tomorrow, for my wife to learn on. What kind of power do these have? I'm hoping it wont pull the front end up too easy. I had a dt250 that sure knew how to wheelie.

check your voltage at the stator. Maybe a weak rotor causing low voltage (minimal spark) at low rpm. Also, I had a sheared woodruff key on a rotor once, and the bike would only start when I bump started it, and it would not idle well. This caused a lot of grief

Be careful, I've had vinegar melt a whole petcock before after a couple weeks. If you live near an O'Reilly's auto parts, they sell redkote tank liner and it works great. All other liners require a spotless prep, but redkote can stick pretty good even with a little bit of rust

don't worry about that head gasket. Most mopeds have such low compression, that removing it will work similar to decking your head for higher comp. Trust me. Also, it is likely a fuel/air issue. make sure the pilot jet on the carb is clean. I like to run a guitar string through it. If you are...
