started working on the engine while i am waiting for lots of motogadget goodies :)
engine casings will be gloss black, all bolts will be polished stainless steel allen head. some of the fins(sump and sylinder) will be polished to contrast the black casing. side covers will be as above...
will look into that.. they are only spot welded on for now, since i am constantly changing things around i didnt want to weld everything in place permanently until im done :)
the plan was to have a black engine, but i decided it needed some shiny bits in the frame too.. so the engine is going to be silver, with polished covers.
got the throttlebodies today. stripped them down and offered them up to the engine. will have to make a new inlet manifold, but it should be almost bolt on..
Looks badass in my opinion, even if they are not CR carbs:D
My buddy holding the throttlebodies in place
ballistic evo 8 cell, and thanks for the kind words about the project, Throttlebodies on order today. will custom make a inlet manifold as soon as the arrive. now i need to fine a decent in-tank pump for a returnless system( this solution will require me to modify the tank, but will be...
This is the first bike im building but will also have another bike as a learner bike but nothing radical like this.. btw the clipons are pretty much the only option for this front end, stock gsxr bits, in the stock gsxr position.
not started on the elctrics yet.. but have also decided the engine will be bored out to 592cc, compression upped a bit, new cam, electronic fuel injection etc.. cant have all the looks, and alsmost stock engine.. so this project has kinda went a bit extreme. as avery other thing ive modified...
rear wheel arrived today. got the tire mounted as fast as possible and mounted the wheel on the bike to see how the general look of the bike would be.
I think i am happy with the "look" of things. Just have to finish everything else now asap :D
cognito moto sold me a set of the new fox podium R shocks.. will probably powdercoat the spings gloss black but other than that they look really great and were easy to fit. Had to adjust the lengt of the bushing that goes in the top, so it matched the width of the stock bolt on the cb550...
this stock dust cover over the steering bearing was ugly.
a new part was machined to replace it :D
also got spacers for the calipers to get them to clear the 320mm discs, and plugs for the rear of the frame. the spacers are alu, and the plugs are steel and will be welded in, and then grind...
made a tank strap out of stainless steel, drilled and countersunk along the top, just for looks. spring loaded clamp in the front.
happy with the look of this part :)
Just lots more to do before the bike is ready...
