    CB350 overcharging battery?

You got an example part for those connector? I found these listed as spade on Mouser: http://ca.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Kobiconn/159-2226/?qs=Keydt0ailpzaup1ZaCzNWA%3d%3d I'm thinking you meant something like this...

    CB350 overcharging battery?

The voltage drop isn't so bad. 300mV at 5000 rpm, 450mV at 3000 rpm. I wasn't getting as high of a voltage reading though. 12.8V at 5000 rpm, but the bike was cold as the test was indoors.

    CB350 overcharging battery?

I think I remember reading that the regulator is an SCR. Wouldn't a zener regulator only have 2 terminals? Anyone know a method of testing it on a bench? considering the 3 terminals: battery +, alternator winding and ground? I'm guessing the battery + is sensed and the winding is shorted when...

    CB350 overcharging battery?

Here's a curve ball... I had overlooked one of the CB350 service manuals. I found this... see attachment. Don't you love how they call it the pointless regulator? It says the regulator will maintain the voltage around 15.5V when at high rpm. Apparently, so long as temperature and electrolyte...

    CB350 overcharging battery?

People seem to mix these up quite a bit. The rectifier is simply a full wave diode bridge, exactly like the ones found in many power supplies. Very simply, it's used to convert AC voltage to DC. It has nothing to do with clipping. The regulator is responsible for regulating the voltage under a...

    CB350 overcharging battery?

I've been working on this bike, just put in a new battery and it starts right up. Had some trouble keeping a charge like most CB350s so I strapped a voltmeter on the tank, went for a ride. I'm reading 13 to 14.5 V when between 3000 - 7000 RPM. Good. When I open it wide, it climbs to 15.3 V. It...

    72 CB350 and JT Sprockets

Alright, I talked to a local bike mechanic and he said to use red loctite on the nuts and I'll be good to go.

    72 CB350 and JT Sprockets

Sorry for not being too clear. The lugs are old and have threads on the other side. If you look carefully at the pic, you'll see a notch on the lug where it meets the sprocket. On the old sprocket, it prevents the lug from turning when tightening the nut on the other side. On the new sprocket...

    72 CB350 and JT Sprockets

There isn't a lot of thread at all. The nuts are held in place once tight with those foldable tabs.

    72 CB350 and JT Sprockets

It fits great on the hub, all 4 holes lineup. The issue is that the lugs that you see on the photo have threads on the other side. The notch on the lug fits tightly against the lip on the original sprocket in order to tighten the nuts without taking off the hole assembly. Maybe this isn't an...

    72 CB350 and JT Sprockets

Just got my sprocket set from JT Sprockets. As I was getting ready to install the new one on the rear, I hit a snag. The picture describes it better than I can. The lip on the new one is smaller than on the old one. Anyone ever encounter this? JT lists the sprocket as a replacement...

CB350 Idle air screw and idle air speed have no effect on left carburetor

the black rubber plug covers the slow jet i had similar issues with my 72 cb350 20+ in storage bike. carbs needed a really good cleaning, ended buying a rebuild kit. also had them simmer in boiling lemon juice which helped a lot. did you remove the jets to inspect and clean? if the idle stop...

    Home made copper exhaust baffle

happy to hear that it's not too loud... cb350 headers have an OD of 1.5", not sure about ID. the 2nd guy is using a 1" to 3/4" coupler with header wrap, i think that would fit just right in the pipes. any ideas for securing the baffle in the pipe without drilling a hole in the header? also, i...
