1973 CB450. First Project

I got a steal on a couple of K&N pods ($16) and some Harley Davidson mufflers ($34).
Has anyone on here ever tried Harley mufflers? I thought I would try them out for as cheap
as they are. I'll put a clip on here once I get them on.

Damn. I'm a real piece of work for not posting on here in forever. Lot of life been happening and the bike was put on hold for a bit. Had a baby boy in January and moved at the beginning of July. Been putting more effort into working on it so I can ride before winter hits

So some progress that has been made is I put the new mufflers and K&N filters on and got the seat re-upholstered.

Figured out why the compression was so poor. Whoever had torn the engine apart before me did not align the timing marks on the cams right. Looks to be a tooth off on both cams. Luckily they weren't off so far that the valves where hitting the pistons.

looks like you did well on polishing the forks, I'm probably going to do the same with mine. haven't looked into it I'll have to look up that white rogue

Oh yeah. Lots of fun and quite a learning experience.
Thanks. I was pretty proud of my polishing job considering I've never done it before. I started out with sandpaper to get the big gouges and scratches out starting with about 200 grit and then moving to progressively smoother grit paper.
Check out the post that midnightcafe did on polishing 101 http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=20130.0
He did a really good write up.
