As of right now my new harness is being ground to the engine so I don't think it's a grounding problem but there is a good chance it is corrosiongijoe13844 said:Sounds like you need to spend some time on the wiring harness...bad grou d after you painted the frame maybe or some corrosion somewhere.

The new reg/rec is grounded through the block connector. From what I see the green universal ground is the only one that's needs to be manually grounded.
