HI!

i am heading down and will be visiting Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide from Sept 6th til the 18th.

Just wondering if there's any "gearhead" events (rockabilly/indie shows, rallies etc) taking place during that time or if there's anything you can recommend on checking out.

It's not a traditional vacation and i will be touring the country with a Brit (whom moved there last year).....so we are interested in anything fun, crazy and cool.

Thanks.....and see you soon,

Hey, hope you have a blast while you're here, you're definitely covering some distance!

Not sure if you already know but we've got a heap of 'big things' (youtube 'big things telstra ad') here; random stuff like enormous sheep, bananas, lobsters etc. They're usually along freeway routes, with a rest stop and service station at the least. I'm sure a few will be along your way so might be worth stopping off for a photo at a couple.

Heres a link to a Google map with locations of all(?) of them.

Cheers - boingk

THANKS! we are pretty ridiculous people, so anything that is hilarious...that's what i wanna see.

i have a few bikes shops to hit including Deus....and a few wreckers. (the guys at EXIF gave me some info).

Very excited to tour SA......let me know if there's anything that comes up of interest.

Perhaps i'll see you on the motorways....

Glad you like it! Also, if you do see me on the motorway you'll most likely hear me first. My stroker likes to sit on 8,500rpm when I'm doing 75mph, hahaha ;D

Kinda why I bought my GS, but thats another story...

if yr in melb on the 12th, then this might be your kind of music event, http://www.messandnoise.com/events/2001385
sounds like it will be kinda close to rockabilly? i'd myspace them to make sure it's what your into, not really my scene.
you might like to check out Modak on elizabeth st in melbourne city as well if you're around that area, the total opposite of deus...

i havent been through modak for a while, have they got a decent range? i remember as a kid they had polished tanks for the ~350$ mark, wonder if thats still the case...

if you've got an old british bike, then they've got a lot of stuff. as to whether it's well priced, depends, some stuff is, and some isn't, and they have to find it in the shoeboxes. If someone had the money, it might be worth buying the owners out, and setting it up as a vintage motorbike culture store, selling belstaff jackets and old triumphs like Deus. It seems to be the closest we've got in melbourne, so i keep mentioning it
