CB360 fork rebuild help!

Coast to Coast
replacing the fork seals on a CB360 front end i'm putting on my 350. i have no manual for a 360 so i'm not sure what else i should replace besides the seals at the top of the lower leg. i've got them apart with the exception of it seeming like there's SOMETHING in the bottom of the chrome tubes... does anyone know a) if there's something down there b) is it something that typically needs replacing and if so c) how do i get it out?

thanks!

You have Allen screw out and forks stripped?
There may be a floating washer inside tube, part of damping system.
Don't mess with it
There is also a hydraulic lock out in bottom of fork tube.
It's pretty much same on all damper rod forks, I only have pics of Suzuki in my build thread

Nothing other than the fork seals need to be replaced unless something is broken. You may want to consider measuring the springs to make sure they are in spec. Also, if you are planning on making any suspension changes (like lowering the front, common on cafe bikes) you might want to look into heavier springs and fork oil, since more of your weight is put on the front end. The parts in the bottom of the lower tube are the parts of the damper that the allen screw at the bottom threads into. If you have the forks completely apart, it's probably best to take everything out and clean that old fork oil off. Use an impact wrench on that allen screw to get it in/out.

Thanks for the input... ya, I've heard that the allen bolt in the bottom can be a pain to remove, but I was lucky and they both came out. So essentially they're totally apart and I've accounted for all the bits except for 7... (ya, I know using a parts diagram as a shop manual is weaksauce) so I'm guessing that's the piece that I can feel in the bottom of the tube that I can't get out... If I clean everything up and replace the seals (17) does it seem like leaving 7 in place is OK? It's not the 'OMG, you replaced your fork seals and didn't get new SEVEN'S?' sort of situation? BTW, I got a set of Works springs to put in there too!

Yeah you can leave that in there. You can slosh some kerosene around the bottoms and let it drain out since that piece sits atop where sludge would build up. Should be fine though. Hopefully that allen bolt will go back on for you without an impact wrench, but if it doesn't tighten and just spins that could be the problem. I'd love to hear how it handles with those new springs :)
