Hi all,
I have a 1975 CL360. It has a fresh top end rebuild, freshly adjusted valves, new plugs, common motor electronic ignition, stock carbs, stock airbox and filters, fresh battery, etc.
I am at 5000ft elevation, the jetting is:
35 idle
68 primary main
105 secondary main
Stock needle
I am having issues getting it to run consistently without fouling plugs in less than a mile. It starts first kick no matter what, but struggles to run and idle once it’s hot. It has very little power, and I can’t get it past 5000 or so RPM or 35 mph. It almost feels like riding a big scooter at this point. It did this before the top end rebuild.
I’ve gone through and fixed a ton of other issues on this bike, but this one has persisted through thick and thin. I’ve been through the carbs a few times already and didn’t see anything obviously wrong, but will have them off again shortly for another inspection and can post photos when I do that. The previous owner of this bike did a lot of “work” on it, and most of what I’ve done so far has been fixing his mistakes, but there are still a lot left. I’d like to have it running decently before I hunt down all the little things though, as not being able to ride it kills my motivation to work on it.
Other known issues it has:
-exhaust leak on the left cylinder
-ignition drops on one cylinder when you turn the bars to the right (throttle cables also get tight)
-some top end noise (not sure how much is normal on these bikes)
Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Is there anything obvious that I might have messed up to cause this?
Thanks!
